Fun to watch - just highlights how far ahead Spacex really is both in the hardware and programming. That was the hardest soft landing I’ve seen.

The dust cloud is the retrorocket thrusters on the bottom, not the capsule itself hitting the sand. It looks rough but it probably is a really soft landing. I'm saying this as a SpaceX fan. Just fairly pointing out what your eyes see.

@@iMeatbag Speed indicator went from 17mph to 0 at the same moment when dust cloud started to form up, parachutes remained fully inflated till that moment, and few secs later you can hear loud sound , which sounds more like crash than thrusters engaging. Looks more like no thruststers got engaged at all and it just crushed. So more likely that your eyes see what they see.

FYI, I've actually looked into it. It is much slower than the data on your screen suggests. Second FYI, the data on your screen has latency and is not accurate. It is a rough estimate to give you something to look at. This is why they needed to wait for accurate altitude data rather than just rolling through the video stream frame by frame to see what the highest number was. Sorry you're more willing to fight some stupid argument you legitimately know NOTHING about instead of spending 5 minutes to Google the correct answer. Last FYI, you're not very smart and should probably stick to 5 minute crafts videos.

I live in the U.K and remember staying up (really late) to watch the moon landing, because I knew it was a truly historic moment. I was so sad when that program ended and believe me, I was not alone in that. Seeing this and knowing all the problems you people in America have today, it's so good to know there are enough of you left, who still want to reach for the stars. So keep going... The amount of engineering put into the Apollo program was astonishing and proof of what can happen when an entire nation has a goal in mind and strives towards it. @JedStrogan Gravity is not the factor that limits the speed of the fall but the air friction. That's why at high altitudes when the air is thinner, the terminal velocity is much greater than at sea level even though the gravity is weaker, though almost negligibly weaker.

in due fairness the capsule used its retro landing rockets in the last second to reduce the impact shock. Many here are assuming that the dust around the capsule was caused by a hard landing. It is old technology used for decades, but it works. The rotisserie mode was first tried in the chicken roasters in my neighborhood. It cooks them evenly.

@@allennguyen4456 ya think, terminal velocity up until 2000 feet, with only air brakes, which are not really visible. Yeah I'd say this needs some work. But then again it's easy to slow an image down if you have that special imagination.

Amazon sells so many types of cameras , but still they couldn't afford to put a couple of them on the capsule. Space X coverage and in depth camera footage of its missions was by far the best in the industry.

Considering all the vast majority of us will ever experience of any of these rockets--Space X, Blue Origin, NASA, etc.--is the show, I like Space X shows better, at least they budgeted for a few on board cameras. This is a Bezos vanity project, it's a roller coaster for the rich. I expect the reason we don't see interior views is because he doesn't want to spoil the ride for his paying customers--AKA not you and I. Ultimately this is just a commercial for his amusement park.
