I still think this is their best rendition of this masterpiece. This just does so much so right.

The best rock band from the 1970s, versatile styles always with mysticism in song writing, psychedelic and progressive approach. As a lead guitarist Buck Dharma came behind no-one.

Saw Blue Oyster Cult at Sturgis just a few years back, and holy guitar, Buck Dharma has an odd approach and is very original even in simple riffs, but also blasts unique solos often x)

I saw the OYFOOYK show at Long Beach Arena. My first BOC concert, but there were many more after that. I saw them at The Coachhouse and I was sitting point, right in front of Buck. Everyone was trying to shake his hand, he wasn't having it. After he did the solo in Don't Fear The Reaper he motioned to me, our eyes locked. and he dropped that pick right in my hand.

@@mikee2923 ~~ Boston had just released their great debut record a couple of months before this - they did open for more established bands for that fall & winter - but by spring of '77 - Boston was headlining large arenas - not many bands made it up the chain that fast - it took BÖC 4 years to do what Boston did in less than one ..
@mikee2923 Жыл бұрын
@@billyz5088 Agreed. BOC is my favorite band of all time but Boston’s debut is my favorite album of all time. BOC prior to Don’t Fear The Reaper didn’t get any radio play but did manage to headline and sell out large venues in spite of that. I consider Boston’s debut the greatest album ever recorded by anyone bar none. Simply due to the fact that album was played in its entirety on rock stations daily for over 40 years. No other album can make that claim. Nothing by Zeppelin, Floyd, AC/DC, KISS or even the Stones, Beatles or the Who or whatever billion selling pop tart that’s popular today can make that claim. To me Boston were the pioneers of arena rock.

It's one thing to write a song this Magnificent but to then nail it to this high a standard live is another thing entirely ... only BOC .. only BOC ... stunning. To the couple of losers who disliked it can I recommend something a little less sublime like maybe AC/DC or Kiss ?? go & bask in their one dimensional sh*tdom & leave the mighty Blue Oyster Cult to the people with the highest level of musical good taste ))

Jeff Nicholson I bought a 12" EP with a live FT, I thought it was from Atlantic City, NJ in either 80 or 81, may be the one you are referring to...if so YES...but unfortunately like the rest of my album collection, long gone with time

It's also fantastic on Black Star, Orange Sunshine, Black Gels, More Black Gels and tmtc others. The first time I met the band I was a mess, however; it left me in a great place after they left the viewing from the back of the theater and I'd made the front row by then (this was the Salem cigarette sponsored tour, which must have thrilled the anti smoking Eric at the time) and tripping balls, the tip of the drumstick, which I have glued to a concert poster, flew off the stick, went at least 20 or 30 feet into the air and fell into my hand, the acid making it one long line, lol, it was a beautiful arc.That was a fine show in Niagara Falls. Oh, to be young again! When I'd walked up to them to say hi, I couldn't form words very well, so I just said hi, then excused myself, tripping balls isn't conducive to conversation, lol.
