Albert is a musician's musician. What he can do that 99.9999% of other musicians is he understands; rhythm, melody and harmony. All music is comprised of; rhythm, melody, and harmony. Most drummers only have a deep understanding of rhythm and not melody and harmony. Most guitar and keyboard players understand harmony and melody and not rhythm. This cat understands it all.

I know it's uncool but I do enjoy the commercial 80s stuff too, Burning For You is a great song! I agree with Astronomy being one of their very best, great song. Cities on Flame, Stairway to the Stars and Career of Evil would round out my top 5.

One thing I don't hear people talking about: the similarities in the intro to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and "Godzilla" by BOC.

My 1st concert was at San Diego Stadium(now torn down)& it featured ZZ Top, Blue Oyster Cult, Johnny & Edgar Winter. Imagine the 1st 3 guitarists I saw live were 1. Johnny Winter. 2. Buck Dharma 3. Billy Gibbons.

I just watched a Live version of Veteran the other day from that tour and I agree. Eric was masterful on it and Don’s solo was searing as It gets. Top of their game no question. I remember a lot of War Veterans related heavily to the emotion of it. I think it helped a lot of haunted souls at least temporarily. For that alone they should be proud.

My Top 5 is similar to Albert's. My 1. Astronomy. 2. Then Came The Last Days Of May(live version from On Your Feet Or On Your Knees). 3. Dominance And Submission. 4. Mistress Of The Salmon Salt(Quicklime Girl). 5. I Love The Night. 6. Nosferatu. 7. 7 Screaming Diz Busters. 8. Veteran Of The Psychic Wars(live version from Extraterrestrial Live). 9. Take Me Away. 10. The Vigil or The Revenge Of Vera Gemini. Albert is a cool dude. I'm glad that he & the other members have mended their fences. Life is too short.

I agree. He and Joe. The band took a nose dive after he was kicked out; and yet Eric thinks they didn't need his help. He was as John Lennon was to The Fan Four to come up with ideas to complete a song.

Spot on. BÖC was never the same after Albert left. It wasn’t only his song writing and arranging skills. I always felt Albert was most responsible for that unique vibe that set BÖC apart from every other band. Post Albert, they started to sound ordinary like other bands.

I've seen BÖC many times over the decades and they are still doing great stuff! Their last studio album is fantastic! OC, the original band with their cool ass songs and legendary live show made fans of us all! Buck gave literally one of the best solos I've ever heard anyone play -ever! Epic. Astronomy is for sure on my Top 5.Maybe # 1❤❤❤

These types of personal interviews compared to interviews were it is questions and stories they told many times are very compelling. So nice to hear a rock legend talk like he is just some nice guy at a bar or something. Great choices of songs as well. I would rank all of them high !

Lonely Tears, Don't fear the Reaper, I love the night, She's as beautiful as a foot, Harvest Moon, Searchin' for Celine, Veteran of the Psychic wars...i do love me some Blue Oyster Cult. Had a bunch of their stuff on cassette back in the day. Building a vinyl collection now, cheers 🍷

23:40 Albert got it right the first time. He wanted equality. That is something that needed to be put into their contract. Sorry Albert, equity is NOT equality. Equity would be if musician/band "A" sells 1000 units and musician/band "B" sells millions of units were forced to share the profits equally with all musicians on the record label.

Now that I’m 53 I’m finally paying attention to what the lyrics actually say. lol so what do I do with all the false memories of all the lyrics my own brain made up because I couldn’t hear or understand theirs back then!?! lol just saying

Still fondly recall the "Black & Blue" tour - mid Oct. 1980 - my show was at Capital Centre near D.C. - just a couple of days before the 'Black & Blue concert video' was shot at Nassau Coliseum, just outside NYC - all 5 original members still in BÖC then - they played "Black Blade" - ( one of my all-time favs ) - bad blood between the bands - and you could feel it - both seemed to play with a chip on their shoulder - both VERY loud & aggressive - which made for an awesomely heavy show ..

All 3 of their first albums were unappreciated. For me I can sit and listen to any of those albums front to back and thoroughly enjoy every song, then the live album which was and still is in my top 3 live albums was just unbelievable. I understand and understood then the noticable change in music style in the 5th album. They couldn't get air time on the radio back then, you had to listen to FM radio and needed to make money. All I know is that I have supported the band several times at the ticket gate.

Fascinating info. I still have vivid memories of my first Cult concert: October 1974, Long Beach Arena, CA. Secret Treaties tour. Waiting outside to get in. "The Symbol", in red light, lit-up the side of the Arena. Crowd went completely wild. T-Rex was suppose to open for them, but cancelled. I seem to remember the Cult playing an extra long set because of that.😁

You know, I saw BOC at Toads Place in CT around 1995. They had a really good drummer! Younger guy- probably 30 or mid 30s. Played the songs well… but the chemistry was off. Just enough :-/

~~ also saw them at Toad's - but in May 2001 - mid 90's they were changing drummers often - Chuck Burgi was in BÖC about '94 - but maybe had left by '95 - he was possibly the most highly skilled drummer they ever had - but they had a couple after him who were just fill-ins - at the 2001 show - it was just weeks before release of "Curse of the Hidden Mirror" - Bobby Rondinelli on drums at that time - and Allen Lanier was still there - so 3 out of the 5 originals - R.I.P. Allen ..

I like all of his favorites. Reaper was the only one I needed time warming up to. I got hooked on the band from "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees," so Reaper initially struck me as a rude surprise. But those are the guys who made the music. I like that they end their live Reaper numbers with the ending to "Gil Blanco County" from their Stalk Forrest days. I'd be really interested to know the lyrics to "Check Out Girl," lol.
