Blue Tit Nest Building Side View Nest Box 15th April 2016

A nice surprise today when the pair of Blue Tits started nest building in my side view nest box! The first real sign this could be about to happen was around 9.30am when the female did the odd nest wriggle. It was around 11am that I placed the nest box plate with a smaller hole on my other nest box where all the fights had taken place recently but it seems they had already decided to give this box a try and who can blame them! Just hope the Great Tit stays well away from this one!

Oh my god she is so cute! I love when cavity-nesting birds do the little funny nest-building wiggle/scramble thing to hollow out a cup in the nest. It's hilarious and very endearing. Hope they had a good season with lots of sweet little baby birds successfully fledging from the nest. Thank you for the vid, I love these bird nest cam videos.

This is a great bird nest cam video. Interesting how much they check it out before they accept the nesting aid. It must be quite exhausting for blue tits do accomplish such a big job! Thanks for sharing!

Still no activity in my box they had a nosey through March and beginning of this month but the blue and coal tits just come to feed now. Is it unlikely they will nest now. Think other areas they have finished nest building. I'm hoping for late starters or some that have maybe been driven away and then decide my box will do. It's positioned northeast 2.5 meters up in a large conifer with clear access to front of box. Maybe the lower branches are a put off as its not a clear drop under the box. Should I leave it for next year or would you recommend reposition? Thanks for posting your videos it's great to watch.

hello sorry this is a random question, i have installed a nest box for the first time this year in my new house back in December. North East facing ect but my question is is there anything i can do to try and make it clear. i just dont see how the birds will spot the box or do they just know where it is hahahaha Thank you.
