Giants Of Steam 2023 saw this year's visitors centre around Oliver Bulleid and the Southern Region. The visiting Bulleids were Original Battle Of Britain 34070 'Manston' from the Swanage Railway and Rebuilt West Country 34027 (Running as 21C127) 'Taw Valley' from the Severn Valley Railway. 34059 'Sir Archibald Sinclair' was on static display at Sheffield Park, nearing the end of its restoration back to running order.
Running alongside 6989 'Wightwick Hall' (on loan from the Buckinghamshire Steam Centre) were home fleet locomotives, BR Standard Five 73082 'Camelot', BR Standard Four Tank 80151 and LBSCR Terrier 72 'Fenchurch' (which was operating a short freight set and brake van rides within the station limits of Horsted Keynes throughout the weekend.)
These scenes were filmed in glorious Autumn sunshine on the last day of the gala- Sunday 15th October - showing scenes at Sheffield Park, Freshfield Bank, Horsted Keynes, Three Arch Bridge and Nobles throughout the day.
Giants Of Steam will return again to The Bluebell Railway, taking place between the 11th and 13th October 2024.
A special thanks must go to @04clemea for filming on behalf of the railway. All filming was taken with the permission of The Bluebell Railway. All lineside locations visited with a valid Bluebell PTS.
