Bluebells & Birdsong - Mottram Woodland -

A smaller walk this time, I've been out on a few longer excursions recently and it was nice to do a shorter wander for a change, without boots. Bluebells aren't very long lasting so I thought it was an ideal time to do something dedicated to them, coupled with some calming audio. For a change I was mostly descending, rather than plodding upwards into the early spring winds! The green has started to make a comeback, and there's the odd smattering of blossoms left over... but the highlight is of course the bluebells on this occasion.
I started up on War Hill not far from Mottram Church, with a surprise visitor instantly accosting me :-) then we're off toward Littlemoor Road to find one of a few public footpaths into the 'Mudd' area! After a highpoint sweeping view across Longdendale, Glossop, and the Bleaklow & Kinder moorland, we start the mild descent into the trees. A few stiles later and the bluebell lined edges of the woodland start to appear, and so do my lingering views of lightly breezed flowers :-D After we've had a good long sit in the calm space, we'll wander down towards Broadbottom via some rural lanes towards the cottage lined Gorsey Brow. That will bring us quickly and steeply back up towards Littlemoor Road and onto Mottram Church itself, where we'll wrap up the walk at the very stroke of noon!
