That was a fantastic interview and very informative . I'm in the same mindset that the boat should get back on the water and the Blue Bird team should be behind it as they have given blood sweat and tears and some of the team never got to see it back together . I really hope that some sort of agreement came be worked out

I can see this is a video setup to defuse sides, gracefully timed, I visited Bluebird before she landed in then museum and this year placed in its safe place. However I couldn’t make it to the teat runs, so never saw it running 😢touched her hull in the museum and felt emotion. For me she is a moving work of art. She needs to be used. So sad that she will never run on Coniston again. That for me would be her destiny.

Bill Smith and his team effectively stopped the clock on bluebird and protected the wreck purely by recovering it all those years ago, they were ahead of their time. Advancements in scuba diving, Social media and so on would have meant the wreck would have been stripped unsympathetically, there would be nothing to save by now and people would be upset about that. The story of the recovery and rebuild by Bill and the volunteers is as important as Donald Campbells record achievements. It should be a celebration of British engineering and never giving up and what’s possible. The interesting thing about Bluebird today isn’t that it’s there, it’s how did it get there when it shouldn’t have been possible. So what’s best for Bluebird? I’d say the team that’s looked after it and knows it inside out for twenty years or so and genuinely Love the thing. Otherwise it could become the equivalent of a fibre glass model in the museum.

I think the Ruskin museum and by association Gina Campbell should be ashamed of the way Bill Smith & BBP have been treated. Sure, both sides are at fault, but BBP are the only reason Bluebird is now on display and are the only ones truly qualified to operate and maintain this icon

Terribly sad that Bluebird's resurrection has been tainted by arguments over ownership.... Bill Smith is magnificent but sadly suffered gollum syndrome and the awful unsympathetic attitude of The Ruskin Museum is shameful.
