Very good reminder that no matter how your goat places in any particular show, the next show could have very different results, even against the same goats. Each judge looks for something different so never get discouraged by one show.

This was so interesting. I was involved in dog shows for many years and in some ways this is similar. The main difference, however, is the dog show judge never comments on why he/she selected a certain dog over another. If he/she is asked they will say it's because they meet the standard for that breed. BTW, your husband should be a news reporter. He's really good at it.

Reasons are given in dog shows in the FCI countries, but typed. Reasons make or break a judge and I wish so much AKC (American Kennel Club) conformation show judges would be required to give reasons. I would then love to judge, as I think they are sadly missing a great opportunity to educate without giving just basic reasons. It also educates you as to what style animal the judge prefers when you hear their reasons.
