@@tiyenin He is the percussion head. He is a professional drummer, and this is just his thing. He has been in the activity a very long time, he was a drummer at BD and then taught there after marching, until he ended up at BC. Definitely not a selfish thing.. that's just something unique that he does for his drumline. He played the set at BD as well when he was teaching

@@averybondeson3322 I'm pretty sure there is tension on the bass drum: if there wasn't, it wouldn't be able to vibrate or be played in general. (Have you ever hit a non-tensioned drum? It kills the momentum from the stick/mallet and probably damages the head. It's like hitting a pillow with a stick, but not quite as bounceless.) Not sure about the head fighting against the mallet, but that doesn't make sense either.

Pay attention to the way they interact with each other. Take note of how each player seems to build off of the other in what they’re playing to make a full and complex beat. Also take note of eye contact and fluid hand motion. Drum set is also nice touch.

Wow... such a talented group of percussionists. Between the stick work and staying on beat with the drum set... it's just amazing. These guys have a bond like no other for sure. It would be hard for me to believe they just picked random drumline guys and threw them in the mix. The coordination between them is just amazing. Simply amazing, I'd love to hear some of their cadences.

I don't know a lot about corps stuff but loved marching bass back in high school. Would someone enlighten me and tell me what the little chains with the little circles are around all their necks?
