The single most criminally underrated show in DCI history. Lost of corps TALK about innovating... this corps DID innovate. Introducing live mixing and looping was something never seen before in DCI (unless you count two chords in Tilt).

Jesu Spectre it’s an abstract adventure through the sounds and waves in motion through its drill and music. It’s poetry in motion.

@@TheRabbitHasLanded The problem with the show was there was no poetry at all. There were literally no words to help develop and support the theme. Poetry, even referenced off the field outside the show, would have been a welcome addition to help heighten the concept and give it depth. By the way, all drum corps shows are about sounds and waves of motion, so how is this one different? How are this show's ripple effects different from the tons of ripple effects done throughout the activity that year? How is the end different from the beginning? This show had an underdeveloped theme of sound wave theory, and lacked specificity, humanity, emotion and resonance. But it sounded great, created some magical visual moments, and sure was pretty to watch. It didn't need dialogue, dance, singing, story or characters. It needed meaning. Third place.

I don’t know why, but I got a lot of meaning from this show. I think the fact it’s so abstract means it can take any meaning the viewer wants it to be, sorta like T/LT. It seems to give off some sort of sentimental and also poetic vibe for me, especially with Steve Reich and “Woods” as source music, both intelligent and sentimental pieces. At least it has a constant theme, and it’s not all over the place. It feels like one show.
