There were actually three other Bass Trombones playing there! Javi was on the left of the slope, but then Eric Homol and Aaron Martin were on top of the slope, and both of them have headcam videos. Corey Suedkamp well yes and no. A mellophone is pretty much just a special type French horn that takes a different mouthpiece and you March with. A marching French horn is basically just the Bb side of a regular hand in bell French horn in a different wrap so that the bell faces forward and it's played with the right hand. I believe a mello is louder and probably easier to March with because the mouthpiece has a larger rim. Marching French horns take French horn mouthpieces which believe me are a hassle to March with especially at a faster tempo.

These are Hammonds custom made for the Bluecoats. A mellophone mouthpiece is the best way to go because they are built to resonate with the horn the way a french horn or trumpet mouthpiece cannot
