@@yungtwiz well yes… however, being that this is a drumline video 😂 Mike Jackson (ex blue knights, currently Carolina criwn) writes a beautiful book that is undeniably more dynamically contrasted, technically more challenging, and makes the most overall impact to the ensemble as a whole. Every note Mike Jackson writes has a purpose. That’s why blue knights never got close to winning drums, their book has so much space, so much color, and so many cold and bold attacks and releases. Truly amazing, and can’t wait to see what a higher placing line can do with his writing.

Bluecoats were clean at Denton, but I feel like I heard BACs drums a lot better, regardless both were throwing down some heat 🔥🔥🔥

Love how every passage has an organic transition into the next with this book. It's less about playing the notes and more about communicating the meaning. Also super dope how this book has the rote roll passages and expressive high-height stuff, but also mixes it up with the more delicate metric modulations, creative split sequencing, unintuitive sticking for particular rudiments. A lot of tasty stuff here and certainly not generic. Hoping for this group and Crown - another whose writing stuck out like a sore thumb among the rest both this year and last - to change the game.

I really don't hear any difference between the Tama and Yamaha drums. BC have a system of tuning and head / implement choice that by far swamps any influence that the drums themselves have (in my opinion).

Clean and articulate without the extreme arms in the air accents. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing for their overall score..

I was kinda pumped about them using TAMA but idk. The drums feel too warm and lack a strong initial high end attack. Snares and tenors mainly. Like, you really gotta put some effort in them to project. I've seen a few videos of their show and it feels that way also. You can't really hear them too much when the horns play. Pearl snares and Yamaha tenors have the best sound imo.
