They are used in order to communicate with the audio engineer on order to fluxuate sounds in the speajers
@bro7484 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the drummer has some sort of pedal that sends a metronome click to the earpieces, because almost any time the drummer isn't playing a consistent groove his foot is still moving to the beat. The most obvious spot of this is right at the beginning, where his foot moves perfectly to the beat through the accel, despite how sparse everything else is, implying that he is deciding the tempo.

I feel like I should know this, but is there a difference between the ability to play and the ability to keep time, sub-divide and etc.?
@blueregiment7 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Noriega I feel like they go hand in hand. Being able to keep time and subdivision is crucial to being a good musician. Anyone is technically able to play, but if you put the right notes at random times it will sound jumbled and all over the place.
@jacobhanekamp25346 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Noriega yes there is a difference, but musicians should be able to do all of those things

anyone know the warmup at the end of the video with the 4mallets , I saw a group at WGI playing this and wanted to know what it was called so I could learn it .
@xarion968 жыл бұрын
it is also known as Lockjaw, it's not too hard to figure out or find the music for. The other is a mix of Blocks and Broccoli, those are also pretty common
@evedonatelli8 жыл бұрын
We play it as a warmup too! We call it 'grid'. We do a little different beat but the same permutations. (different order though) We do... 1234-2341-3412-4123 You can learn what they play with these permutations.

Do you know why, though? Are they listening to their sound as it's being output so they can better listen and adjust, or is it something else?
@dandremiskel21998 жыл бұрын
***** since they are spread so far apart, the way they hear across will totally throw them off.. the in-car system allows them to play together while being apart.. me personally being a musician who has played with an in ear system, I find it better to hear what's happening from the audience standpoint. If that makes sense
@cas39618 жыл бұрын
dandre miskel Thanks, that made a lot of sense, especially because this year they decided to have a really spread FE.

I will forever hate how they set up the pit this year!!! ugh why couldn't they just get vibe players.. and what's with the all male pit.
@JamesThomas018 жыл бұрын
2 reasons I can think of off the top of my head, no girls came to audition or didn't make the cut, and more players is harder to clean. Less numbers = Cleaner section. Always.
@RoyaltonDrummer9228 жыл бұрын
Because this is cooler and gives each player more responsibility and playing clean with more responsibility=high score
@JewSoRandom8 жыл бұрын
Actually, the design team wanted more on Color Guard, so they made the Front Ensemble smaller.
@NettlezTV8 жыл бұрын
+RoyaltonDrummer922 that makes no sense. if you get all good players which clearly bloo can do then cleaning shouldn't be an issue. plus if you have more people and they all play together you will get a lot more credit than less players. also having them so far apart makes it harder to clean and play together anyway so saying have less people makes it easier is false just because of the set up.
@noahgormanmusic18438 жыл бұрын
+Annette 4 President that's why they are wearing in-ear packs (they are linked to a small mic resting on the front sideline), that way they can still hear each other in sync. Plus from the stands it look pretty damn cool.
