Big schools of sand eels brought bluefin and yellowfin tuna to the fishing grounds south of Block Island in big numbers in the summer of 2023. That day, I lost a 400lb BFT 5 mi S of Land's End Newport. Hooked on 9 oz speed jig on 30lb mono on a 7ft HMCF spinning rod with a Penn 704. Insane! I got it below the boat to get a look about 30' down. Popped the line, but man, was it fun!
