Just did the same trip on Labor Day, on a 24ft cuddy cabin. came back with 3 bluefin totaling 423 lbs. The fishing was incredible, and the 4 hour trip to and from San Clemente was brutal! The captain rigged up frozen flying fish, and we were just drifting and letting the fish hang and touch the surface, not trolling like this video. Cool technique here, whatever works!

Entertaining video. I would get a much better fishing harness though. Also, looks like your braid was packed a little loose. I like the kite outrigger idea. Going to have to try that.

Why do you keep the boat moving once you have hooked a fish?

Some guys like to do that because it helps them keep tension on the fish and keep it hooked. Also, this fish took a lot of line initially. With the boat in gear you can follow them and take some of that line back up much easier.
