This is just a heads up to all of you who leave comments. Unfortunately there are scammers out there who use my cover picture and leave comments acting like they are me. Every KZbinr out there deals with this same problem. I respond to toms of comments but I will NEVER ask you to send me any personal information and I never to giveaways via my comment section under videos. The scammers can’t get you unless you share your personal information with them so NEVER DO THAT! Thanks for all the positive comments 👊

What I like about your videos , and what separates you from the rest is how real and true you are as a person . Nothing fake or phony about you , and the content is top notch . Thanks for sharing . A little tip for you , keep some Italian salad dressing handy, the kind with lots of herbs and spices . Works great for whatever you are cooking on the grill in tin foil, and it's easy .

LOL Awesome video Gabe! You guys make a good couple too. Also fire needs air. I see how you have the vents closed on the little grill. Open vents mean hotter fire. No air means no fire. Coals will reignite when you leave the lid completely off. Takes some time to perfect and learn but you got this!!!

Been watching your channel for last 8 weeks and quite impressed with your personality, content, and surrounding cast. One doesn't see outdoors/fishing/hunting platforms that entire family can watch and likes to watch. Live in Western PA and own agricultural/forested land with sole purpose to create wildlife refuge for hunting. Food plots, cover, and some winter support make all the difference come 1st day of seasons. My 2 sons and I bag nice buck, long beards, and even a bear last year. Now grandsons in the game. This is what attracts me to your channel - you have your boys and girlfriend involved and all aspects of your sportsman videos. I assume by now you know how this family formula attracts an ever expanding audience and by no means doubt the ever present theme God imparts on your viewers. My wife and I are high energy people married 45 years and in mid 60's - we have a small idea the outstanding work behind the scenes you accomplish. Just remember each one of us has a God-given purpose and when things get tough, I mean real tough, hang on. You will never ever regret it. We see this business as your purpose. If you get a chance there is a condensed version of Rick Warren's "Purpose Driven Life: Get the paperback, short, and to the point version of the hardback copy if you haven't ever read. He speaks to a person exactly like you - and this is a real good thing. People crave your "Real Person" content with outstanding positive outlook. Gabe, your on a mission field, with all it's trials, but never forget who you are. Luck has nothing to do with it. Just don't forget the huge contribution your children, parents, friends, and especially Ms. Beachy add to channel. I married a girl 45 years ago that would pass for Christy's sister. She's got your back!! even when you don't realize it. I see her helping character shine through your shows. Ya, sure, she would like to put you on the grill at times & turn until well done. Suck it up and deal with it as my wife tells me - you won't find nun better. Her family originally from Gorgia and Texas. Keep it comin Gabe, but please take time to retreat and recoop.

I've commented on your channel several times with this idea that I know works for sure. Any kind of "trash" fish, which you've pretty much labelled the mudfish. Whether whole(cleaned) or filleted, just marinate it for at least for 24 hours in buttermilk or regular milk with lemon juice added. You'll love it!

Glad to see you in The Glades. I’m from The Keys and used to, as a much younger man, fish my butt off on weekends there. I came from Eastern Virginia and learned to love freshwater fishing. Of course, I love salt water fishing now and have done a lot of it. Anyway, when I first arrived in The Keys in the eighties, to get my freshwater fishing fix, I’d drive into The Glades early Saturday mornings, spend a night in the van and drive home to the Lower Keys Sunday afternoon. I was astonished the first time I caught an Oscar and imagine my surprise when each one looked different just as you noted. I used to get some average sized Bass, plenty of other “Sunfish” like Redears, Bluegill, etc. it’s a fantastic place to fish light spinning tackle. Ultralight and fly is also a hoot. I stuck to nothing heavier than ten pound monofilament and often dropped down to six. We did best with lures overall. There’s so much live bait swimming freely everywhere it hardly gets their attention but a spinning lure or a darting plug works great. If you know how, a jig is killer. Rooster Tails, Beetle Spins, Rapala lures, especially broken back ones in the tiny sizes work well. We ate them on the bank in the early evenings before turning in just ahead of the mosquitos. Oscars are delicious, by the way. I’m sure you’ll eat some. Great memories relived with you Gabe, thanks. Awesome video. More from The Glades please?

The best preparation for bowfin is to keep it alive until cleaning. Dispatch and fillet quickly and don't soak or wash off, towel it clean and cook. The meat breaks down easily and quickly if soaked. If prepared this way, the meat stays more firm and tastes cleaner.

We eat Bowfin pretty often. There are a few tricks to it. You have to clean them live or close to it. You cannot leave it on ice and you cannot rinse the meat. You have to go from live fish straight to flour then hit the grease. Otherwise it turns to mush.

I grew up in north Florida namely Tallahassee and I've been bumbing around swamps since I've been five years old and and black fish or as you call them mudfish was a common fish in in backwoods rivers the best was to cook is to fillet the fish and soak it in a combination of buttermilk and vinegar to toughen and strip the muddy taste overnight than cook to taste I seen your brothers video and I laughed because I knew what he in for cooking it unprepared.
@larrybaysinger7312 Жыл бұрын
If you are going to attempt preparing a bowfin/ mud fish to cook, take a knife and cut through the gills and bleed it out before you fillet it, leaving about a quarter inch of flesh on the skin so as to remove the red blood from the meat and make it more palatable once cooked.❤
