I’m currently at the vetting stage with Suffolk, for Direct Entry Detective. This is making me a little nervous!

Hello. I've only submitted my vetting early last week, and I know it can take up to 8 weeks for them to make a decision, but this is tragic for the majority of us,and I'm pretty sure most of us,have been in this process for at least a year, or perhaps more in my case. I'm currently applying for a PC position in the Rugby force, in Warwickshire

I just feel like it's all a grip onto your seats and wait for the turbulence. The government saying do this do that and then sitting back and watching the show! It's crazy that so many of us are trying to pursue a life changing career that is completely and utterly for everyone else, the community, the government etc... and yet we are all, the first people to feel the affect and the last people to hear the answers. It's all about marketing at the end of the day, we all know the 20k officers aren't actually 'new/more' officers, just replacing the budget cuts over the last how many ever years. But by saying 20k people stop complaining as much about needing more officers, and if they are then going to say, we're stopping or drastically cutting back down on recruitment again, it's just like a cycle isn't it? Your never actually increasing any numbers, just playing around within a set amount! If then, in the next financial year, everything is going to get even more budget cuts, and then you have this whole thing about the new entry route, i just see there being a pretty nasty ripple effect on the service and its future and it only being damaged more! Its great that there is this new pathway on the way but from what is currently known, its rather pointless if they are planning on releasing it the way they are talking about! All of this is certainly enough to put a hell of a lot of people off from joining so i hope they do start coming out with some better communication and transparency and i hope someone in the government can step in a help steer the way with these new pathways and actually increasing the numbers. No point in doing a 20k recruitment drive and then sitting back for the next couple years because next thing you know, they'll be another 20k drive 😂👍 anyways, thanks for the video was really good and helpful, just gotta crack on with life and wait and see what happens i suppose!

I’m just waiting for the final vetting and references checks for my application to Kent Police with an expected March 2023 intake. 5 weeks of vetting so far.

It will all be down to supply and demand as well as ££ as well as which areas need officers. I'd ask the force to clarify, Brendan

Such a shame as i've basically missed the 20 thousand uplift. Applied as soon as I graduated and got my degree certificate in June so i could apply to city of London, I live in the countryside and haven't applied to any other jobs as was waiting around for this. Guess I'll have to start looking for a different career path for now as I need to re-locate for a year minimum for work.

Hi, I have applied for the Met and at the Day 2 assessment stage. I notice that the Met are still have recruitment open. If they aren't sure on what intakes they're having next year, do you know why they've still got an opportunity for people to apply?

I have been offered a conditional offer from Greater Manchester Police. I have passed the fitness test and the medical yesterday and am now waiting for recruitment to get in touch. I was told at my fitness test that my start date could be in January if vetting goes quickly. Do I need to be worried about this being pulled out last minute? I think GMP have committed to taking a cohort every month until March 2023.

I personally believe that a degree should be the minimum requirements to enter the police. However, I don’t see how they will regulate recruitment if they don’t have a minimum standard.
