Hey, I'm a newbie, but trying to use this tutorial to accomplish a task. When I get to about 6:11 I realise that half my layers are in my original file, and I'm working on my Displacement file. I've tried this tutorial a few times, and I always seem to have this problem and don't know why. Everything else seems to work perfectly up until this moment. Can someone explain how to fix this, or where I'm going wrong?? Thanks!

Just create a Displacement map of the face area create a layer mask of the face area next to the texture.

6:20 Doesn't work. When you CTRL click the layer it disables the layer mask option because you have 2 layers selected
@BLTV_PhotoshopАй бұрын
After dragging the wood texture into the statue of liberty document (4:28), the wood texture is the only layer that's active. Ctrl-clicking the statue of Liberty doesn't make that layer active. It only selects its shape.

THIS IS AMAZING!!! THANK YOU
@dirkbraun3210 жыл бұрын
Hi Marty. Very cute vid. But in my opinion the coronna of the statue doesn't look very realistic because of the same wood angle. How could i fix it? Maybe it is onla a matter of the patterns size?
@BLTV_Photoshop10 жыл бұрын
Isolate those areas with a layer mask and reapply the original texture. manipulate the Transform Tool in warp mode to apply the texture in the correct perspective.

I tried this method to convert two real tulips, including the flowers, stems, and leaves, into blue-veined white marble, and it worked very well. But later, when I tried it again to convert the leaves and stems into green jade, I found that the jade texture wouldn't "wrap" around the stems and leaves; instead it was like looking through a plant-shaped hole at a flat slab of jade. Did it not work because the color of the original object was close to that of the texture I wanted to wrap around it? Should I change the leaves and stems to a completely different color and try it again?
@BLTV_Photoshop2 жыл бұрын
It could be due to a number of reasons, however, it's not due to the colors. One would have to inspect your PSD file to determine the source of the problem.

Hey Marty, first of all, I love your videos and how you explain stuff! I've achieved a lot of awesome results thanks to your tutorials! I also have a question. I'm currently trying to accomplish a task: I wanna photoshop a hand (pupload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Index_finger_%3D_to_attention.JPG photo by Pogrebnoj-Alexandroff) so it kinda fits into a landscape. I used this tut and now the hand looks super awesome, but there's a sharp edge where the hand is "standing" in the landscape... Can you give me any tips on how to solve this? Here's how it looks: hero-in.com/self-destruct-images/gNcnHPs.htm I'm still on CS3 by the way. Thanks in advance and a happy new year to you!
