Don't let the weird criticisms get you down. These videos are excellent. And anyway, with all the hard work you do, including tracking down the extras and giving them some recognition is impressive, and very kind of you. Secondly, voice over work is not as easy as a lot of people seem to think it is. I think you do a great job.

@@WatchitforDays Evidently! I think you’re awesome. Social media comes with trolls & criticisms, that’s just the price to pay. Whenever anyones posts what feels like an attack I realize my work is unimportant in the big scheme of things. So they must have some bigger problem eating at them that makes them lash out. Whenever some viewer comes to my defense so I don;t have to respond, it’s very satisfying.

Production-wise; this is by far the most fascinating episode. It is clear that this must have been a logistical nightmare to produce. So many questions... How did they make this on a real building site? Were the construction workers paid as extras? (There are so many extras in this episode!)

I have read that the "authorities" wanted to punish Peter Falk for his work-to-rule campaign in previous episodes. They promised him an episode to direct and this ended up being the only one left. He was finally allowed to direct and they made it as difficult as possible with this shooting site etc. But he managed to create a very entertaining episode in spite of it.
@AndrewHeller-jn7dx

@@LoveThoseTunes11 Yes; quite true; although Falk's action might be more accurately described as a work slowdown, than as a strict work-to-rule campaign; albeit, it may in fact be the case; as it seems, that it was; in greatest correctness, a combination of both.

@@WatchitforDays In a way it is, even though I have many favorites for various reasons. Some I love for the photography (Greenhouse Jungle), some I love for the cast (Johnny Cash, Oskar Werner, Leonard Nimoy) and some I love for the quirkiness, and that's where "Last salute to the Commodore" comes in. It's so unlike any other episode and one has the feeling that they really had a blast filming it. This is why KZbin was invented, for engaging & creative channels like this one. At last I don't feel alone in being totally intrigued by this TV series since watching my first episode back in the early 70's as a teen. The last cassette is, as you said, Songs I Like To Sing by Tennessee Ernie Ford. He is definitely country but it isn't a country album. A variety of different types of music. Another terrific video. It takes me while to watch your videos. So much fun information that brings me back to my younger days. Some I haven't thought of in years. I have to pause your video and look them up to reminisce. You mentioned Robin and the 7 Hoods movie. It's a musical/comedy about 1930's Chicago gangs. One of the running gags in the movie is that some people get murdered and have to have their body disposed of. The people killed end up in cement and as part of buildings.

Shonna! You're on a roll! Closing in on a full hour now. This isn't one of my favorites but like you said, it wasn't Peter Falk's fault, he could only do so much with the material given to him. The villain just didn't grab me like usual. I liked the gotcha at the end and my favorite scene is definitely the sequence where our detective has to deal with the slow-as-molasses government bureaucracy and long lines. Some things never change...thank goodness for smart phones, eh? Anyways, you're not going anywhere...and we couldn't be happier!

Hey, nice review as always! Love all the little details that you bring up to light! I didn't notice that Bo had guns in his car door handles! That gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "riding shotgun" or "revolver"... Or whatever. Also, well done on your Japanese translation. I never understood why the masseuse would say "anata ga suteki desu" and "anata ga suki desu". Kind of unacceptable by the first 30 seconds of meeting someone! Well, it seems very normal for this era of TV shows to show Japanese people as being subservient (Pat Morita being one of those too in the next episode.) (In my opinion, more realistic lines would be "Columbo-san ga omoshiroi to omoi masu" and "Columbo-san ga ki ni hairimasu." You wouldn't treat someone whose name you already know as anata, and you wouldn't be so upfront with someone you just met) Falk was a great actor, with great range and he gave Columbo a soul of its own, and with this being his only credited outing as a director, can be excused for some of the little issues with the episode. There are a couple scenes that linger and drag on for a while (like the demolishing pile D-3 scene), the blown tire section was definitely unneeded in my opinion (since Columbo is not involved but rather a random highway patrol agent, we definitely know that Markham is getting off the hook there, all sense of urgency and suspense gone). Sometimes, I have to suspend my disbelief when Columbo is involved in Missing Persons cases... He's supposedly assigned to Homicide (with my favorite line in Columbo's history emphasizing this in the next episode), but seemingly he's sent by whatever cases might need his help! Well, we know his superior is a crook, so whatever. In definitive, I agree with your 4/5 cigar assessment, it is a good episode, but lacks suspense and its length is not 100% justified. Final thought, or as I want to say from on, just one more thing, I never noticed the ADR on this episode until today. Of course that would be a noisy environment, but now that I have seen it, can't unsee it! Thanks for your great efforts, and keep up the great job!

I would agree with you on this again. -The pacing was a little off, and it did drag. I also thought they 'hinted' a bit too hard on the pile thing. Foreshadowing is one thing, but here it was a subtle as a train wreck...on a boat. -I thought the 'The In-laws' connection was funny...in the film they hardcore make fun of my hometown (Scranton). -I didn't know that Levinson/Link sabotaged him on this (undoubtably in cahoots with the studio). That they'd treat a talented and successful actor like Peter Falk, who was currently bringing in tractor trailers of money so shabbily was really eye opening.

Fantastic job, as always. We are quickly watching all of the set you have completed, and we are thoroughly enjoying all of them. The depth of your research and your eclectic knowledge is remarkable. I can just imagine that one simple fact or graphic that you pursue can take hours, and yet your videos are filled with them. I watched all the Columbos when they first came out, and with DVD copies today, I have watched all of them many times. To me the primary theme of the stories is hubris versus humility, and of course humility always wins, but it is marvelous to watch all these richies who think they are geniuses gradually melt into little puddles as Columbo does his "little boy lost" thing with them. Even though they are antagonists, sometimes Columbo and the bad guys seem to really like each other, and those are the best to me. My favorite is "The Conspirators," but that's a long ways in the future for you! Thank you so much for doing these, and my wife and I both love your narrator voice and your wry comments.

Some years ago, as part of my Meeja and Cultural Studies degree, we were tasked with thinking of 3 ideas for a 90-120 seconds film (no real limitations - it could be our individual take on an ad/a particular movie scene/something completely new/whatever), do the storyboards, present same, scriptwrite, appear in, do some camerawork, do the lighting, do the sound, directing and finally editing (one of my ideas was selected - an ad. for chartered accountancy done in the style of Quentin, based on specific bits from both Reservoir and Pulp). A whole heap of fun BUT my point is - the objective was for us to learn what's actually involved; at least a basic knowledge of the subject material is required. So - thank you Shauna (did I spell it correctly? Hope so. Shona perhaps?) for all the effort you've put into you presentations. Mucho appreciated and nice one! [Quick point - we redid the ear-cutting scene from Reservoir in the context of someone failing a Revenue audit - again, a whole heap of fun but it took ages - live 'n learn, eh?].
