Blueprint started with a simple idea - to watch sections of trail come to life before the viewer's eyes. Once we broke ground here in Cumberland, BC, the abundance of dirt was the ultimate inspiration to challenge ourselves to build something that pushed our creativity further than we had planned. The corners were just asking to get stacked bigger, faster, and smoother! We visualized, developed, and pushed the limits to create something special for all riders to enjoy: a hand-built, blue square level flow trail you'll want to lap all day long.
I've been building one-off features and short free ride lines for more than a decade, but I've never built a full-length trail before, let alone something that's inclusive and equally enjoyable for all skill levels. In order to pull this off, Scott Bell and I needed a trusted, seasoned crew. Trail builder Chris Snodgrass of the Ridgeline Crew was our main man, and photographer Jarrett Lindal was on board to capture the still photography. Everyone brought their own unique skill sets to the table, and at the end of the project, we all became trail builders.
I hope our story inspires you to get creative, contribute to your mountain bike community, and have fun with it! For trail builders the trophy is so much more than the trail, it’s an extremely rewarding process. When you have a good crew to share those moments with, it adds a whole new layer of passion to it.
Disclaimer: Always build trails legally. Blueprint was built with the support of the landowners through the United Riders of Cumberland’s trail application process. These private lands are managed by Mosaic Forest Management for which the United Riders of Cumberland has an agreement to build, maintain, and use trails. We encourage everyone to get involved in building trails that are legal, well-designed, and sustainable. Please reach out to your local trail association or visit IMBA.com to learn how to you can get involved before breaking ground.

The part of the country I’m in have many trails but the problem is old people build the trails of course they will build something they can ride and all of them are like Blue trails I barely enjoy it also they are not educated trail builders they don’t even know how to pack the trails like you will see a berm that is not packed in also wrong curve height etc. Trail builders are 100% needed

Some of the comments on here are clueless. Cumberland was a a mining and logging town. Bringing in mtn biking is a much more environmentally friendly industry than what kept the lights on in the past.

Nice video, showing the designing and making of a trail by hand. With regards to the mixed commentaries below, I wonder: has an environmental impact study been done before actually making the trail? More generally, are they any studies on the impacts of MTB trails been done around in North America? Europe?

I'm all for cycling in all formats, but WHY THE FUCK, are you chopping shot outta an ancient woodland??? Don't MOThers have a duty to the very earth beneath them? Like we ALL do. Just ride your trail thro the NATURAL forest, instead of spouting ' I'm a one with nature ' blocks and then backing the shot outta nature.
@MarkMatthewsMTB

We were building in a working forest, this is far from ancient. 40 years old max. The forest surrounding this trail will be clear cut soon too so building here is a sustainable practice. Best to put your energy into helping fight the battle of the cutting of real ancient forests around here. Check out fairy creek! It's crazy what type of trees they are trying to take down.

Anyone om the east coast usa knows how ridiculous building your own trail is. Look left - onwed, right, owned, behind and in front - owned. There's litterally no-where. We still do it, and it's fun, but illegal so we can't publically share even when we come up with amazing trails, it's BS not being used for anything meaninfgul otherwise.

@@ark8tct lol they can borrow it just bring it back when I need it, preferably with the tires intact. Anyway it's unrelateable. Talking land that is over grown clearly not used for anything, nothing that is being used for personal use by them. Just have it. I don't care as much to own everything, just let it be used for good.

Trails for trails sake seems like trespassing. Passage for no real destination. Not sure it's the best use of resources. So much more could be done for cycling with all that energy. Rather see more trails serve as real and commutable by being useful to more than a handful of downhillers. There is so much to ride without cutting into virgin areas for sport only.

@@etiennemauret2393 you ever lived in the forest? It will be back to normal in a couple years if un touched. Meanwhile every man made thing you touch is probably worse for nature than this.
