BRS: My '45-P would certainly not get the Full SPLIT Band designation, but the fasces (did I spell that right?) are definitely fully split and the wings on the obverse are very good. I'm wondering if it would be worth having this coin graded. With this dime, is there a point at which you just say "forget it"? By the way, don't let the naysayers bother you because they can't comment on your excellent teaching ability! Thanks for more instructions; PLEASE keep them coming.

There's only a few 1945p dimes with full bands. To collector's, that's what gives it the value.

Your cool BR. Screw the nay sayers. Let you in on a secret. I have a couple early Mercs, haven't had them graded yet. But their looking to be MS 66 or so, with FSB. I will be sending them off to auction as soon as they come back graded, and CAC'd. I went to some foriegn countries on working vacations. And everytime visited some of the lesser known, out of the way, not on the beatin path coin shops. And Cherry Picked the hell out of 'em. The results ? Well, I will be sure to inform you. Probably as late as fall 2021, but perhaps this fall, 2020. Thanks for all the insight and encouragement. Hope to share good news with your channel relatively soon. Peace. BTW I am willing to trade, but only for Trade Dollars in MS. Or sell before auction, but only in the five figure range.

If you have a smart phone go to Walmart and look around the registers, they sell a little clip on lens for smartphone cameras for like 5 bucks. The box is about the size of a deck of playing cards and there are a few colors. It comes with 3 lenses but you want to use the macro lens. You will be able to see every detail in a coin with that thing. You can even zoom in with the camera to see really small details.

Somebody's going to have buyer's remorse. I bought a BU 1945 dime for CDN$1.62 last October. It was fully lustrous with FSB and NO bag marks. There are rolls of them all over the place, even here in Canada.

I have this dime exactly the same with split bands 1945 and shiny. I also have one from 1937 looks like it was in circulation for awhile as it is worn and you can’t see the splits in the bands.

i've got a 1942 mercury dime pf67 Ngc plastic case with a green sticker and I've got a 1942 Jefferson nickel a full set of steps, pcgs pr67 type one with a green sticker on a plastic case. I've also got a 1942 half dollar pf67 in a plastic case with a green sticker and the Stack Buyers auction said it wasn't worth but $50 . I'm watching your videos of the dimes and nickels being worth thousands of dollars. I'm Danny Crocker. Heritage Auctions said it wasn't worth much either.

I have three 1945d 1945p 1945s with full split bands I also have 1940 1941 1942 1943 1944 1935 1936 1937 1926 1916 1928 these dimes are beautiful I have been cherry picking all over central Florida for them but I also have all of the other dates as I have made sets but my nicest ones with full split bands coin dealers do not want to pay good money for so I’m not giving them away I paid very little for them but I know what there worth. The holy grail of the Mercury dime is the full split bands 1916 D I have a 1916 s it has full split bands and a dealer offered me 35 dollars He was nuts. Especially for a beautiful dime that’s 1004 years old.

If I said it once then I said it a thousand times, the name of game is 'rarity in high grade in connection with sharp well struck coin features'. Mintage amounts are no issue if there are few specimens at extremely high grades. Hypothetical example: Let's say a 1969 clad Washington quarter with a mintage in the hundreds of millions with most of them beat and worn out, and there exists only one well struck 69 quarter graded by PCGS as MS68 and no other examples existing at that grade. So, logically we see there may as well only be a dozen of these 69 quarters ever minted because the mintage for this one MS68 quarter is only 1!!! All the rest are gone or in poor shape and the rarity of that one example trumps all the high mintage number originally minted. The owner of this hypothetical 69 quarter has bragging rights to say he has the only business strike coin like this known to exist! This common coin is now not common at all!!! Understand what the thinking is now my follow coin hunters?

Hey BR Silverhound. I don't know if you realize it or not, but the FB designation ONLY applies to the CENTER bands. A lot of people think that it applies to the top and bottom bands too, but it doesn't. Yes, if the central bands are clearly separately, then the others should be too, but that's not always the case and PCGS/NGC will still give it the FB designation. Details are important when educating the newbies to our hobby.
