Yngwie has remained true to his musical ideals and style that he loves. I saw him perform back in 1994 at a small club in upstate NY and he was flawless and brilliant. The highlight being a 4 song Hendrix encore. Good stuff bro...

According to him, he's *the* GOAT. And he's happy to tell anyone who'll listen for five minutes. He's also happy to tell the sound guys, in front of a crowd no less, that they're utter garbage. Yngvie's a prima donna, who's guitar playing hasn't much changed since 1985.
@epic1033 жыл бұрын
@@citizen_grub4171 - Most of that is true, but that doesn't change the fact that he is one of the GOATS. Nobody was playing like Yngwie 38 years ago. His picking, tone, vibrato, and overall technique was by far the best. He influenced everyone that came after him. When Yngwie hit the scene in 1983 he took them all out, no one could touch him. From a lead guitar standpoint his vibrato and technique was unmatched.

Like Eddie Van Halen who changed the way Rock guitar is played. Yngwie invented a style that is landmark and changed rock guitar playing forever. He really should have as much notariary for doing that as Eddie did. Unfortunately popularity contests get in the way of giving proper credit sometimes.

You've got to have something to listen to without worrying, "can I play this?" lol. When I pick up a guitar, I play mostly blues, some classic style rock...because I can (sort of!). But I listen to a lot of other stuff I haven't a hope of ever being able to play, so I can just...listen. Nice to see you keeping the channel musically diverse - love it! Checked out one of your gig videos - really liked it, good stuff.

I always thought the purpose of scalloped frets was to allow finer bending by pushing the string inwards towards the body rather than up and down the fretboard. Speed is really just a matter of string tension and muscle memory.
@Krebstar1002 жыл бұрын
That's one purpose, a scalloped fretboard's main purpose is to enhance the clarity of the note as its only touching the fret if played correctly. It can speed up your playing down the road but takes a long time to get used to because it requires a really light touch. One of my old guitar teachers had one and I couldn't get it to sound in tune due to being too heavy on my touch.
@islesnd Жыл бұрын
Less drag on the fingers when pulling off and hammering on because they never touch the fret board. Same concept as jumbo frets just on a greater scale. The zero drag makes it so that you can play faster.

Good point about tone. Separates the men from the boys in shred. Yngwie plays an 08 gauge on the high strings. His tone is extremely clear due to the single coil strat tone and his precision. Other shredders can sound sloppy because they have bad tone profile.
@NS1.2 жыл бұрын
It's those scalloped frets and single coil Fender Stra, plugged into Marshal stacks with a good amount of reverb. Probably some Chorus. Gives him a real original and tasty tone.

Steve Vai is the nicest guy around. And he went on tour with Yngwie multiple times. First as part of G3, with Satriani and Vai. Yngwie was also part of Generation Axe, formed by Vai. And they toured a _lot_ all over the world for 3 years, from 2016 till the end of 2019. Apparently Vai and Yngwie are friends. Either Vai is able to deal with ∆ssholes extremely well, or Yngwie's reputation is exaggerated.😁
