Great info here! I’ve been working on the IV and the V IV for the last couple weeks, and this helped out a lot. Thanks for the content! Do you have any content covering turnarounds?

Great lesson! Really very instructive and greatly improves the ability to improvise. Thanks a lot. Any practical tips on how to systematically approach sequencing, beyond what's in the PDF? How to master the switching of keys? Also, another video on the IV Chord in the 10 bar would be fantastic!

Kevin thanks nice video. However when I read the PDF..total confusion! Page 2 you show a G major scale with scale degrees, however how does this relate to actually playing the harmonica? If I take a C harp and I follow the notes GABCDEf#G I cannot see what holes to play. G would be 2 draw, A would be 6 draw, E is 8 draw etc. If I play those notes in order it sounds terrible and not like a scale at all. I am sure I am wrong but I don't know what is correct. Theory is very difficult. Am I missing something?

But what are the notes/holes that fit?? I try to play along with jam tracks, but sometimes you blow a hole that probably should have been a draw and get an awful bum note that just doesn't fit. What holes work for the IV in second position?

Apologies for the slow reply. I don't usually check the comments (I'm lazy). The best handy hint is that ANY blow note matches the IV. All the blow notes are either the 1st, 3rd or 5th of the four chord so you can't go wrong. Also, the 3 draw half step bend if you're playing bluesy.

Learn the blues scale in first position, once you can bend notes it is not so hard and it fits perfectly over the 4 chord.

Hi Kevin, thanks a lot for this useful tutorial. Playing in two octaves (of the same scale) can’t be considered as "sequence approche" right? Thanks again.

Half a year late on the reply (sorry, I don't really monitor the comments on my videos). I would say that there are rules and there are guidelines and there's stuff that just helps you get from here to there. Switching octaves for the four chord is a great idea and will almost certainly sound great (the only caveat being the availability of notes in the two ranges isn't identical, so some licks may not work 100%. BUT having said that, why not change octave and do a slight change using notes you do have? That would sound great too, I'm sure)

This is nice, I'd love to see how to approach the IV when it's on bar 2 "the quick 4" I think it's called?
@LeedsHarmonica4 жыл бұрын
Ooh. That’s a good idea.

@@LeedsHarmonica Yeah the IV comes so quick! I was playing 5 draw over the 1, hoping to make it last, kinda Jimmy Reed style, then the IV chord came and I was like "oh balls now what" haha :) I di dthink of just wailing the 5 draw then resolving on the 1 (bar 3)....but not sure..

Hi Kevin Very useful info for an old geezer like me, who has just taken up blues harmonica. Any chance you could tab that 1 riff you are playing? Sounds fab! Cheers Vic
4th chord?before that you only played 2 licks....embarrassed i’m a beginner.

Hi, sorry for the slow reply. Don't worry, the terminology is confusing if you're not used to it, and I don't cover it in the video, and it's a bit complicated to go into here. I might have to do an intro to the 12 bar blues video. Thanks for the idea!
