When I see a Brad Harrison video, I click on it. I'm actually at level -2. I just realized that my musical listening levels were on Mute.

What do we learn today? “Drum go boom”

Pineapple on pizza is no longer pizza, it is an American abomination. Deep dish is on the edge too. And if someone gives me whatever “cauliflower crust” is, we’re throwing hands. Also, the video is pretty good too… I seriously love your format, your videos are very professional, and can teach anyone from beginner to advanced. Thanks for doing what you do man 💯

So glad you enjoyed! But have you ever had Deadpool pizza? Olive and pineapple. It’s a classic salty sweet combo! (Okay, I’ve never actually had it, but I’m a bit curious.)

You’ve made me curious as well, however after looking it up, I can feel my Italian ancestors crying 😂

Lmao. No doubt. But pizza belongs to the world now! There’s so many great kinds.

You’re very right, it’s just like music really, infinite number of interpretations and everyone has their preferences, but there’s beauty to be found everywhere. That’s what makes all art forms beautiful, it’s the expression of emotions, and this ability is what makes us human. What would we be without it but animals?! That’s why we need people like you making music more accessible!

7:06 why are there flats and sharps on the same scale? I thought this was against the rules of music theory.
@BradHarrison13 сағат бұрын
Not at all! There are some scales that don’t mix flats and sharps(like major) but lots of scales do require sharps and flats to be mixed(like the minor blues scale, and many others they show up later in the video).

7:27 Why do you say #4? Typically in jazz, I see that note as a b5...
@BradHarrison2 күн бұрын
In chords you generally refer to odd numbers(1,3,5,7,9,11,13), but in scales you just use the number that the note actually is. And in the blues scale, in my experience, people tend to refer to that as a #4 rather than a b5. But whatever makes sense to you is fine!
@seanonel2 күн бұрын
@ Thank you! My music theory is pretty solid, but I learned something! I thought it was flat if ascending and sharp if descending the scale. Obviously b13 is always named as just that... Have a happy and blessed 2025!

Hi I know you are trumpet player and I was wondering if you could touch on a concept that I haven’t heard many do, but has been a major problem for me. “Rhythm and Aerophones” or just rhythm and any mouthpiece/reed instruments. Typically problems with rhythm are answered with “Count it out” or “Sub-divide”. It may be a problem exclusively to me but I feel like it’s extremely hard to count in my head and play notes at the same time. On piano or guitar you can just count out loud and it’s easier to just stay on top of things. But when I play the trumpet I have a hard time keeping track of things because it’s all in my head and I’m also worrying about the pitches. Sometimes even the counting comes out in my playing. Say I’m playing a whole note, there might be a very slight puff of air on each beat, which obviously isn’t ideal. I understand I might be alone on this because it feels like everyone else picks up counting pretty easily, but I thought I would ask about it The obvious answer is using a metronome, but even then it’s like. I know where the beat but I can still get lost onto which beat I’m actually on
@BradHarrison3 күн бұрын
This is definitely an extra challenge for wind payers(as if we didn’t have enough!). The extra puff of air is something to work on in long tones, I would say. Play 4 or 8 count notes and focus on a steady stream and slowly turn on your internal monologue to count. And/or transfer that energy to tapping your door while you play. Also, accents beats! Check out my latest video on metronome practice which does include suggestions for learning how to play in time and how to levels p your metronome work when you’re ready. I think it may answer several of your questions. The 10 Levels of Metronome Practice kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3eyqpZ_rNKNjs0
