that celestion g12p80 is a beautiful speaker. i've been playing a hot rod deluxe stocked with one and i love it. great harmonics, great tones and great break up.

Lightning bolt speakers are great! They sound good clean and dirty. The sound a lot better then the old brown/gold speakers. Its a Emi so it takes about 30 hrs to break in.

You make the best blues junior videos I have found on youtube! Fantastic sound and playing! Now I am thinking of a Bj with a Tweed cabinet....

+Blackforestrock66 Thanks a lot :-) Really appreciate it. My latest tweak to the BJ III is to put the amp and the Cannabis Rex speaker into an oversized combo cabinet from Carl's Custom Guitars. Will try and make a new video demo in not too long. Have a look at this (hope the url works): scontent.fsvg1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/12185256_10153093399065458_4629223193269096207_o.jpg

I spent over $500 on 2 Celestion golds and they gave me bad ear fatigue. Great for pedals because of the clarity but they are LOUD. I just bought a Cannabis rex to put in a 1x12 cab for a blues jr to get rid of the shrill that all the celestions give me.For $75 you can get almost 4 for one gold.

hmmm... all sound great - the Blues jr III is a masterpiece. I'd choose the Cannabis... and would like to hear what it does with a strat.

I liked the Cannabis. Stock was heavy on the mids (mine is the same) and the second one too clean. Cannabis was just right to my ears.

I don't understand the cannabis rex love, do people just love really dull, middy, "bloooz toanz"? The G12P-80 had a nice upper range, good treble that wasn't sharp or grating while the Cannabis Rex has no upper range, it's dull. Keep in mind, I'm not one of those guys that bought one and is trying to justify my purchase, I just have the stock "lightning bolt" speaker in my amp and don't even care to upgrade to either, I just thought I'd give my outside perspective.

You are right. I keep mine stock too. If i want the crex sound i just use my tone control on my guitar. But nowdays people seems to learn all the "mods" before even learning to play and use their gear

Nice playing. I preferred the stock speaker. Had more bite. The Celestion sounded kind of lame. The Cannabis was in between. Though you should really use a Strat since that's the iconic sound people buy Fender amps for. With a Gibson you are less likely to use a Fender amp.

I like a Fender amp video using Les Paul or any humbucker setup all of this is personal preference, mine is less so for single coil sound

Good review! I would like your opinion on an speaker for my Amp Fender Blues Jr III that comes from a speaker Fender Special Design Eminence 12 "Lightning Bolt Speaker 8 Ohms 50 Watts. I ask your opinion based on your experience, because I am your review Celestion speakers, and you also play on a fender blues jr. It's not that this is a bad HP fender Eminance, but for the style of music I play, the "Nirvana" grunge, it seems to me that something is missing ... I play with a Fender Jaguar Kurt Cobain, and I basically use the clean channel with distortion pedals. To improve the speaker, according to my style of music, what would you recommend? Celestion Vintage 30? Celestion 12 "G12M Greenback ™ or Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Made in UK? Thank you

Cool demo! Do you think the Blues Jr has enough volume for playing live with pedals? Do you have any video playing it live? Thanks
@thoroliversenmusic9 жыл бұрын
+Tiago Franco Thanks :-) I have used the blues jr live. Infact that was how I first got introduced to it, by lending one at a jam. I have used it live on club scenes several times and it is more than loud enough for my blues band. I'm afraid I have no live videos with this amp to show so far.
@TiagoFrancomusic9 жыл бұрын
+Thor Oliversen Thanks! I was asking about the stock Fender BJrIII “Lightning Bolt", not with the cabinets! :) Were you referring to the stock when you said "more than loud enough for a blues band"? I want to use pedals with it, and maybe change the speaker for an Eminence Swamp Thang, which I guess it's the loudest. Thanks!!
@thoroliversenmusic9 жыл бұрын
+Tiago Franco Yes, the stock amp was what I first tried at club jam, and it absolutely did the job to convince me. When you play live on club scenes or larger venues, you probably wanna mic the amp to go to the PA system. I use it without a mic in front at rehearsals where we play pretty loud, and I have no problem at all to get above the drums and bass with the BJ III :-) And yes, it takes pedals very well.

Bought this amp last night, did a gig with it last night and selling it today, its bloody awful, how fender put out such rubbish is beyond me, its only purpose is for studio use, you cannot gig with it, there is zero bottom end from it, my badcat 20 blows it out of the water, I guess heavy amps need to be heavy to push air, I dont recommend this amp at all to a gigging musician
@Wrguitar9417 жыл бұрын
you must play metal then????
@alistairdent97656 жыл бұрын
It’s true the blues junior lacks a bit of bottom end, which might in part be their design decisions in the circuit to minimise the small cabinet vibrating. However it is very easy to improve the bass of this amp. If you can solder then there are mods available to make it better. I also found changing the speaker helps a lot. The standard speaker is fine for clean sounds but it sounds a bit harsh in the upper midrange when used with overdrive. I love the amp for blues and rock sounds with a different speaker in it.
