Mr Walsh ,what an absolute pleasure, privilege and honour it was to discover that video you made for me. I really can't believe youd take the time and make the effort to do such a generous thing. You see, I knew I was right about you as soon as I clapped eyes on you: a down to earth honest to goodness man who's been round a few corners and found out a thing or two about life and the people we meet in it. I'm not a good harmonica player but I just love the sounds they produce and the amount of soul they can draw from you when you're in the mood. Sometimes one note can break my heart and other times I can be so happy making this crazy little instrument sound like a sax or a complete accordion band. Love them, and like yourself I'm always on the prowl for something new. I'm waiting on a Swan diatonic coming from China, I've been told they're pretty good for the price. But knowing my luck my Swan will be on the slowest boat from China and take half a year to get here. By the way your Swan tremolo sounded nice and full and kinda mellow.. Here before I clear off and give your poor head some peace I followed you lead and managed to repair my marine band. I customized it slightly by opening up at the back and the reeds only really needed a bit of a degunk to get them moving freely again. I also sealed it up better when putting it back together and it sounds better than ever. So thanks for the inspiration there big man. Cheers once again for the vid it was remarkable and one thing is absolutely certain you can play the blues on a tremolo. Fuck those fucking k how it alls, they know fuck all. All the best mate and look after yourself. Holy shit I can't get over you doing that for me. Man, I feel like I'm as rich as Edward Norton.

Aww thanks for watching my lousy old video Jon lol…I cringe when I watch this now but I do love sharing my odd harmonica collection off lol. I think it’s really cool trying as many kinds of harps as I can. I’m so glad I’ve got some good tremolos and chromatics…even tho I’m not the greatest player it’s fun to have the sounds on hand…I figure that with any harmonica, well, we are harmonica players so why not try ‘em all😀!?

You’re an amazing harmonica player Jon! I love your styles…I think hearing you play Hipshake with RL and Richard Roy (? Sorry if I got that name wrong) is some of the best harp playing I’ve ever seen. I love how you focus on old style harp…none of the KZbin teachers do more than touch on it. That soloist pro video you just put up was amazing! You are a true gem Jon and I’m so glad to have made your acquaintance brother 🙏😎👍

@@dirtypatwalsh That's an awful lot of high praise, Pat. I'm no big deal just who I am. But, maybe because of a lot of influences I'm kinda good at this roots blues thing though I play ukelele, guitar, piano in a simple way. But, the simplicity is we what I hope people get from me. To have fun playing simple, uncomplicated music to help make their lives a better place to hang out in.....

Thanks for watching Jack! Yeah I can relate to that for sure…when I first picked up the harmonica I had a Chinese tremolo I got in my Christmas sock (I was9)…I was happy to have a harmonica but I didn’t see how blues could be played on it. Dear Pat Walsh, I absolutely love listening to your tremolo videos and thrilled to know, it seems, there is no limit to what can be expressed in them, based on what I see you do with them. I am grateful, and thank you so much. In some of your other tremolo related videos, you determined that another B harmonica, tremolo, was actually a Bb. I'm noticing and per what I have now heard, that some Hohner's and especially per the charts at the bottom of that Hohner PDF file, that some harmonicas must be labeled "H" for a regular B, while others marked B are actually Bb. I think so, but I have not seen any harmonica online stamped "H" yet. And it seems like there might be a thing going on with the F as well. Perhaps some are actually F# (not just tremolos), but I am not sure. All of this might be simply a case of just stamping a harmonica with one symbol, not two, in some duration of time in the past, or so. Also, regarding that awesome Pre World War II, Bb double sided Hohner tremolo, you have...I just love the way that sounds as well. And I think it must have been a transition harmonica...for I believe the early ones definitely have the Star of David in that center circle, and later disappeared, but that one you have seems to have rounded Star of David's in the cutouts, but it seems the middle star in the circle was modified to be five star not six star. Perhaps this was even a symbolic piece, the design, to represent something like what would be on the tabernacle garments of long ago? Not at all sure, but I love it, the design of it. I've been doing a lot of exploring online, but so much remains a mystery. My dad was in a concentration camp, but for reasons you might not think. Actually, there is also mystery in my background. Definitely. I am so honored to learn so much from you on all these things...and how amazing old harmonicas still sound. I had no idea that there would be any sound since so many people talk about blowing them out in a very short time just in their own playing. Anyway, I really appreciate hearing your music, and it touches me deeply. Thanks so much. May your day be so very blessed in the Lord Jesus.
@dirtypatwalsh2 жыл бұрын
Aww golly thank you so much! I’m not sure of the symbolism on the instruments but they all look beautiful 😀 that old double sided one is a real beauty…I think it’s from the late 1800’s. And yes the B-Bb thing is real! I have 2 B tremolos and they both play in Bb. God bless you as well ForestElk Deer! Have a great day!

@@dirtypatwalsh Greetings. After I saw your reply (and thank you so much), I did a search for more information on the Star of David. Wow, there is a lot of information. But I saw this website page which said that this symbol was around when King David was and there was something special about the merging of the two triangles, overlapping in such a way which created eight corners, and pertained to a unification of people that joined him, or something like that. Strange how on this harmonica there are, to me anyway, eight stars in that pattern. But perhaps it is just a beautiful design by its artist. But most definitely, there are these symbols in the center circles of some early Pre War II harmonicas. Thank you for confirming that the B-Bb is real. Happy Sunday to you!
@dirtypatwalsh2 жыл бұрын
That’s really interesting about the harmonica designs for sure…I’ve always loved the Star of David as a symbol. I’m more than happy to talk about the B-Bb thing. I’ll likely be back to video making tomorrow and I’ll try to demonstrate it 🙂🙏have a blessed Sunday as well!

@@dirtypatwalsh I cannot wait! Thank you so much! I so look forward toward it...and all you will post. I too love the Star of David symbol. Oh, I forgot...I believe?? the long tremolos you play, one long one, in C is mahogany wood (comb) as well as the shorter one in Bb is also mahogany. I saw this in an older Hohner ad. So, I believe that is likely. Is that not wonderful?
@dirtypatwalsh2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed! Those harmonicas are usually found on a wheel of 4 or 6 different keys. They are beautiful old instruments 🙂.
