This is a cool channel...I love that intro today.....the g and c shapes are the tough caged chords...but not impossible.. And the good thing is theres a ton of useful lead ideas within those chords

Hairs getting longer....mustache getting thicker....We're all gonna look like the Doobie Brothers soon! I find I frequently use my ring finger often...usually on the E string for a high note embellishment to the the chord I'm playing. I notice many pickers just use their index and middle fingers, so I consider this a plus for me. I was taught to assign my index to G string, middle finger to B string, ring finger to E string. Is this the configuration you commonly use?

Doobie Brothers! yep! That is the picking style I use. There are players who do it successfully with thumb and 2 fingers and even thumb and 1 finger. But for me I prefer the way you describe because it gives so many more options. Good comment.
