Thank you for the continued education in audio. We’re currently building a home and in about 1 year it will be completed. I’m figuring out my options, costs, and these videos help. Thanks and keep them coming

Need to dial in the audio here - a lot of distracting white noise.

Hey Matt, I'm currently contemplating between a SonosAmp and PowerNode for my living room TV and Audio Amp. I'm only going to run a 2.1 set up (Older PSB Image 5T Towers and a Klipsch R120SW woofer) so a streamer like these units is all I will need. Now both look to be similar units, the SonosAmp is a little more powerful (125W x2) but the PowerNode looks to give more support for high quality formats. Do you have experience with the SonosAmp? Or would you sacrifice the output and get the PowerNode?

Hey Jared, just wondering if you decided between the Sonos and the Powernode in the end? I'm currently having the exact same dilemma! Both seem to have pros and cons so making that final decision is tough!

I understand Matt's vision of having a good AV system in garage. Now both the source and speakers needs to be good but equally important is the listening environment. Acoustics in the end define how you perceive the sound and I would say that garage is probably the worst possible environment to listen music - unless that is being taken care of as well. You are surrounded with concrete floors typically without any soft materials to prevent echo for example. Insulating garage door could be an option but that's not an option always as I have for example factory insulated door which has a sandwich type of structure so it's covered with steel from both sides. Maybe Matt's next step is to find proper acoustic panels etc that you can use the soften the environment. Of course that can be a challenge as well becase typically in garage you have walls covered with cabinets and ceiling covered with lights :) Looking forward to see how this AV thing goes forward in Matt's vision.

He's been running Dynaudio Core 59's for awhile now... Don't think he's shooting for a critical listening room. It's just good audio in a not great environment. Dynaudios are generally very forgiving. Not worth chasing room treatments in something like a garage.

We have converted our garage to a gym (sorry) would these Dynaudio powered speakers be good for that?

You answered my question at the end sorry!

I have a dent and scratch in my hood from a seagull dropping a seashell on my hood, getting it removed at a body shop but what’s some questions I should ask before I go in because it if they do it wrong there could be a edge of clear coat

It sounds like if youre going PSB, you want a Power Node, but if youre going Dynaudio you want a node and powered speakers. I would imagine the NAD derived power node would out perform the amps in the AM3, but would be not as good as the Dynaudio built in amps that tend to be directed at a woofer or tweeter exclusively. I bought the black Node in this video from your fire sale, im using it with an Emotiva A100 and a par of B1+ speakers and im really happy with its performance. I had a Audioengine B-Fi streamer which sounded great but had a so-so app compared to the blue sound.

I'd still rather have a larger amp and DynAudio passive speakers. The PowerNode can do it, but it's a little lean for something like the Evokes.

Kind of a strong sales pitch at the end Matt, no need, people either get it or they don’t.

Weird. I guess my last comment was deleted or caught by a spam filter. Anyways, it seems they do have an API, though I guess it isn't intended for home IoT use. So say I wanted to play a song across multiple devices *not* through their app, it seems impossible. But you can at least interact with these units in some way, so maybe it can work.

Havent watched yet but in the description on your site it says for systems wireless or wired. So if your blue sound is hard wired via ethernet, you can stream music from your phone?
@kevinwalker59152 жыл бұрын
Wifi or Ethernet on both products. but it works a little better wired. You dont stream from your phone. all your phone is used for is to control the music. (but if you really must stream from your phone both these products have Bluetooth)

For a garage it's suitable where the sound is not important. For high-end hifi it's just a piece of crap. Would never install that if are a true audiophile.
@ObsessedGarage2 жыл бұрын
Oh course... I wouldn't either.

Good video but, you should not use your opinion on the eq. Just because you like you music flat, some of us thinks the eq is very handy.
