my best friend Sadie, a bluetick/heeler mix, actually saved me from a grizzly while i was on a hike with her 4 years ago...i accidentally came across a group of bear cubs and when i turned to get away mama was standing 15 feet infront of me and Sadie literally stepped up at my feet, stomped and barked like ive never seen her before, so violently she started foaming at the mouth begging mama bear to come over which thankfully she didnt but that day i learned just how loyal the breed truly is!

What’s his activity requirements like? Is he uncontrollably vocal? Iv been playing with the idea of a dog for years but I like em all and want to make sure I have the right environment for them so just curious what it’s like. Saw one recently and he actually seemed very relaxed going for a walk .

I met a bluetick in portland. He barked once to let me know i better introduce myself so i stopped and out my hand out and he came up and just sniffed it for an entire minute. I really like their demeanor

I liked the look of this breed. Researched to make sure temperament and behavior was what I wanted. Found an excellent breeder. My puppy is now 10 months old. She can be a handful but I am very happy to have her. Wonderful breed of dog.

I just got one. I used to have black and tan coonhounds but they are very similar breeds love my hounds. Just lost my beagle to an enlarged heart. He was my best friend hopefully my blue tick will be another good friend.

My sweet girl Pepper is turning 4 soon! She was born with a tail defect, causing it to scrunch up and form an S shape. Her breeder didn't seem too happy with it, locking her up in a barn for the first 6 months of her life... so me and the family got her out of there. Can say she's the happiest she's ever been, and gets all the love she deserves! Wouldn't trade her for the world.

We have a mixed puppy from the shelter we believe is bluetick coonhound and pug. She chases the chihuahua around the house to play and always grabs him by his back leg to get his attention. 😂

Our Bassett hound had to be euthanized in January due to cancer. I told my wife I wouldn't get another dog unless I got another hound. In March we were fortunate enough to get a young female blue tick hound. She is definitely rambunctious, but my 8 year old daughter keeps her entertained. 😀

I have a 3 year old and she’s as lazy as can be. But when she wants to play, she’ll let the whole neighborhood know! She’s the sweetest thing and attached to my hip. I take her on hikes often and she does so well off leash (not recommended for everyone) and doesn’t even flinch to chase squirrels and loves staring at deer. I leave the back door open at home and go into a panic when she doesn’t come when I call, but 9/10 times she’s laying on the couch looking out the front window watching the squirrels play.

One of the major founder breed was the french " Bleu de Gascogne"; and right, Washington loved this gift by the frenchman👍They already looked quite the same; a little bit longer in body maybe and with longer ears. There is also an american association for the " American blue gasgone"; in France they are very uncommun now. Beautiful dogs and very functional both, the Bleu de Gascogne ( Azul de gascuña ) and the Blueticked Coonhound! Greets from Europe. Thanks a lot.

Yes in France the Blue du Gascogne is not a really well know breed, rarely seen. Also is the dog used to get basset blue and hound... The Blue my grandpa was using more as a game like the pachon Navarro, kinda tracking and pointing dog, has this attitude this breed and the BlueTick is basically to track the pray....I have a Black &Tan coonhound now doing the same job while we Hunt. ..with the mix of the foxhounds I believe that they was loosing the characteristics of work of the Blue but not the look..... Really beautiful and amazing breed, the BlueTick

My blue tick's name is Woofer . He's a terrible guard dog he sleeps in my recliner or my bed he will not sleep on the floor he drools like crazy if you eat in front of him. He smells like burnt corn for some reason but he's easy to give a bath. He howls in his sleep. He follows me so close he gives me a flat tire at least once a day. But he's house broken and affectionate really a big baby. I didn't think I could love such a lazy silly practically useless dog. He's my best buddy

Anna, we have 2 blueticks both from Ray at bluetickone kennels out of Blackstock, SC. Amazing dogs our first was Sadie and our second is Sophie both Sadie and Sophie live inside our house with 3 cats and no problems. Socialize while she is young and stay vigilant with her, and you her and the cats will live in relative peace, there will be barking and the occasional mock charge/chase but all good we can live Sophie and the cats inside without worries of coming home to a dead or mauled cat. In fact Sophie that is Alpha female at 85lbs actually lets our smallest cat Nubby (because she has no tail) sleep with her at night. It just takes lots of time and patience but we did it twice with 2 different female blueticks, it can be done. I've had numerous dog breeds over the course of my life, there is no greater love than the love a bluetick hound, there is something really special about this breed. Enjoy her she will change your life.
