Bluetti AC180: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1745428&u=2680260&m=108816&urllink=&afftrack= UPDATES: Initial testing with my 3 different Snomaster fridges were done with Eco mode on (failed) and Eco mode off (failed). 3 separate updates became available. Battery has now ran the Snomaster for 24 hours. Will continue to test further, if I feel it’s needed I will post a follow up review video.

I'd love to see you do an updated review video after completing those updates and performing a couple complete "cycles" on the unit to truly get that bms dialed in and calibrated. This past weekend I tested it out again while camping and ran my iceco jp50 cooler/freezer for 3 and a half days off the ac180 unit with no input/charging source connected. Thanks again for the update regardless tho man! Glad I stumbled across your page! Keep it up and keep em comin'! :)

You have ECO mode turned on based on the display when you zoom in to it at 9:08. Since you’re in a controlled environment if your fridge compressor doesn’t run for a certain amount of time the battery will turn itself off. I had the same issue (on the EB55) and Bluetti sent me instructions how to turn that mode off. The looseness of the 12v port though is concerning.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Жыл бұрын
That was during filming for B roll shots, but while I was testing this I definitely turned all that off and tested it again. I think it needs a firmware update, but Bluetti didn’t really seem to care. They were more concerned on when I was publishing the video.

I have a Bluetti AC200P that I have since changed out in the truck for a Jackery 2000 Pro. Basically, the Bluetti AC200P was having random voltage drops and the compressor on my Dometic 35 CFX3 fridge would fault and not start back up until you turned it off/on. I haven't had any issues with the Jackery 2000 Pro. I also had no issues with a Bluetti B230 (DC only, no AC inverter on that model) or with either of my Jackery 300. The Bluetti AC200P's voltage regulation issue sounds exactly like what you are describing on the AC180. (FYI, I run the fridge on DC instead of AC whenever I can.)
@808orion
@808orion Жыл бұрын
Also, after other use, my 12V plug is loose as well. It wasn't the issue for the voltage drops though. They need to design that a little better.
@IndependenceOverland

I’m getting a lot of people commenting/messaging me about these issues from Bluetti. It’s reassuring to me to know I wasn’t the only one experiencing it, I kind of felt bad about giving it a bad review if it was only me and others had a positive experience. They just need to get with the program it sounds like.
@808orion
@808orion Жыл бұрын
@IndependenceOverland Just worry about giving an honest review... whether that's a good one or a bad one. I still have the AC200P, but it isn't my favorite. Each has their limitations. I wish jackery had more amps on their 12v socket and, like you, I wish they had 2-12v ports instead of 1. If these companies are smart, they'll listen to how their products are being used.

I’m not some Bluetti plant, rather a satisfied customer here researching my third Bluetti purchase, and I’ve noted some inaccuracies on a few points made in the video: @3:20 the 100W USB-C PD port is output only. @5:40 when charging your Bluetti using unstabilized sources such as generators and vehicle inverters, the Self Adaption Mode should be switched on. @7:40 when eco mode is activated (as evidenced on the display @13:45 to 13:50), the AC180 automatically shuts down after a period of no load since fridge compressors don’t run continuously. Also, from my research it seems the Ecoflow Delta 2 has more features on the surface, but Bluetti has higher quality internal components such as: UPS circuit, cells with longer lifespan, and an inverter that provides higher efficiency and surge capacity.

Can you cover this as a topic? The BLUETTI device has a MAJOR security vulnerability. The bluetooth is always enabled when the device is powered on and it is not secured by any authentication or prompt on the device. There is also no way to disable the bluetooth. This means that anyone can connect to the device using the app via the bluetooth interface and control the power station (turn on/off power). This becomes a vulnerability in that critical systems can be turned off, systems that are required for animals (automated feeding systems, fish tank aerators) can be affected putting the wellbeing and life of animals at risk, and at worst, any medical devices can be turned off with a risk to human life.

I'm new to your channel but have hit sub and will look over your previous reviews. You that for the price that are better options. I'd love to hear and even see what that might be. I'd be open to suggestion if possible so I can take advantage of current sales. Oh my main use would be overnight for a CPAP machine, and to recharge my phone/camera. Inside the bluetti app there is some "advanced" settings for both the DC and AC Eco modes which is pretty neat.. But yea I would make sure that they are set to OFF when running compressor style 12v devices such as a fridge. Also make sure that it is up to date within the app as they have released an update that helped the fan speed and output shutoffs at different loads. I have been beta testing the US model for about 3 months now for them and altho it did have its quirks originally.. with the recent firmware updates that have been released, have been really loving this unit.

I had an EB55 a while ago. I never had any of the 12V port issues with running my fridge or anything, though mine was a loose connection too. My biggest problem with the Bluetti was the massive power brick for charging (and the lame 20% incremental charging display, though it looks like they fixed that on the newer units). I really hated lugging that thing around everywhere for when I wanted to charge via AC. I love how Ecoflow integrates their power bricks inside the unit so all you need to bring is the standard AC power cable sans brick. Also definitely like how the Ecoflow has the Anderson ports.

I thought it was an excellent review. The idea behind these nicely packaged units is so anyone can operate it. A user should not need to have a full understanding of electronics to use a power station. My use case for a power station is to have emergency backup power, so I'm ok with the lack of 12v ports. I'm sure many of those hard core electronics focused reviews will get skipped by the average Joe who just wants to find something that will work for their needs.

There is also excessive losses at distance. You can google how much voltage drops on 5 Volt USB cables over distances of 3 meters. Literally, you can't exceed 3 meters ever. For example, a 3 meter 28 AWG USB cable will lose 3.35 volts of the initial 5V at 2.4 amps, which is completely unusable of course. Splitters should also be avoided, as the insertion loss of another connector will almost assuredly cause voltage drop. Getting a very short thick cable sometimes works for 12V.

Thanks for your review and your opinions. I just think this unit doesn’t meet your needs/application. No unit will meet everyone’s needs of course. I’ve read good reviews. The DC issue needs to be understood so thanks for that. $799.

Yeah I’m doing a follow up video. Bluetti gave me incorrect pricing in our emails which was annoying for me. The rep I was in contact with wasn’t the best. Also since this video 3 firmware updates have been released which fixed the fridge issue.

I'm curious. Have you looked into and/or tested the AC200MAX? It's the one I'm leaning towards to use on the road with my rig. I'll have to see if that unit has an issue with the 12v port too.

I have a Pecron 2000 LFP. And a older Bluetti EB200p. The Pecrons 12v section and efficiency is way better. I have a older EB70 as well. I'm not a overlander. (Truck Driver.) But I'd like to see 2 cigarette lighter ports on all of these. Especially on the bigger power stations. The big Anker 2048wh has 2 cigarette lighter ports. I'm up to 2 Snomasters now...😮 I think if I were to shill for a fridge company. They would be it. I also bought two Iceco's because I had to put the seat back in the Peterbilt. They work. And are pretty cheap. But they aren't Snomasters. I have Engels in my collection and had Dometics as well. All the Dometics are gone. My sister has my CFX3 55IM. My Gf has my CFX3 25. The Dometic seemed to draw down pretty quick. Not near as fast as the Snomasters. I bought these Iceco's Because they are light. They do work. But the Secops cant compare to that Snomaster compressor. I seen a BD50F Secop (which is the big one.) It's smaller than the Snomaster compressor. I miss my 85L. It's in the house. I have the LS35 in my pickup. It is typical Snomaster. Turn it on. And in 20 minutes it's cold.

I have 3 Snomasters for various reasons! I may try one of the new National Lunas at some point, but I have a hard time getting away from Snowmaster!
@DutchK75

@@IndependenceOverland There's a ton of the National Luna that are going on 20 years old running around Africa and Australia. They along with Engels seem to have the longevity. I have a friend with a ARB 63qt that is 15 years old. The first blue and white ones. He now has a 82qt. A newer one in his big truck. He's a ARB guy. The old one is in his garage and is running still. So they seem to be good as well. Yeah the Snomasters are just awesome. I am afraid that a National Luna would just be disappointing. I don't like the plastic bins either. That's just me.

Cigarette lighter ports are just a bad design. The outside side connectors on the male plug sort of lock it in and the middle connector relays on a spring. I’ve used these heaps over the years for various things and it’s only a matter of time before you have to fiddle with it to get it connected again.

@@nancyt2811 This thing didn’t work correctly at the time I recorded this nor did the Bluetti rep help me with it. Needs more and better 12v output. Needs some 5521 10a ports and/or some XT60 ports. Just about all of us make cables to run our frig and or other critical devices on one of these and virtually never the crappy cig outlet. I have an EB70 and it has 10a 5521's and they are really nice. With the limited 12v outputs - this one is a big nope for me. Thanks for the honest review.

I love Bluetti. In our group we have the EB3A, EB55 and AC200max. One trick we have done in our rigs is to duel charge them. Charge AC power with an inverter and then DC through a 12V port. But we boosted our 12V to 24V. Getting a combined 380watts into the EB55 so can charge that in under 90 minutes. Then we are getting 660watts into the AC200max. Not bad for vehicle charging and much better than the standard 60w - 100w most people do in their rigs. If you have any of the other Bluetti systems I highly recommend looking into duel charging them and adding a 24V booster wired up correctly.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Жыл бұрын
Yeah I have heard of hacking them like that to charge them quicker, but for me if I have to wire up hardware I’d rather just do a dedicated battery system if I’m going to have to wire stuff anyway. Perhaps I am just too used to a Redarc system to be impressed with these things. The 12v issue is the biggest problem with this one though.

You are incorrect. Read the 100 other comments, eco mode was off. Bluetti wanted this review out before the official product launch so my unit didn’t have proper software out at the time, nor was it available. I told them, they didn’t care. So it got a bad review. After I filmed, the units were fixed via an update. Thanks for your snarky ass comment
