I love the stamp game, thank you for sharing - it is always good to revisit lessons and see how other present them. For XXLoveoneanother - no, it doesn't always work out even, that's when there is a remainder but the children start with equations that are even before moving to dynamic equations where there are remainders.

so what happens when they get a regular sheet of paper with division problems and they cant use those lessons to figure it out...are they going to be able to solve it without blocks or skittles, etc?

Please explain four digit divide by three digit. Ex.4567divided by 243 like that.

I'm finding it difficult to figure out how the children move from doing it this way to mentally. I think they may have a hard time with that transition since they don't do the division the old regular way where they are dividing each number by 3.

There are other steps after this one, where the children learn to record this work in a way that leads them to the thinking you are talking about. If you look at what is being done here, you can see how many groups of three were in 7000, it's 2 (with a place value of 1000), then you bring the remaining 1 (with a place value of thousand) into the next step and add it to the hundreds. This is actually what you are doing when on paper you look for how many threes are in each place value and 'bring down' the remainders. If you look up 'group division in Montessori' you will see it. This lesson uses distributive division.
