I'm a pretty big fan of both to be honest. I have a love hate relationship with Britpop in general. The rivalry for me is really elitism vs populism, and fuck you Noel if you think that makes me arrogant. Typical working class anti-intellectualism there. You see, Blur being the more progressive of the 2 despite being really disgustingly posh, and Oasis being the more traditional despite being the working class actually had a profound impact on British society. Its predicted the music, the culture and politics of 21st century Britain. Complex relationship with the music too, which I love. Oasis is like brilliant pastiches of classic rock and roll, and through a boozy cocaine filter. Be Here Now is a fucking awesome album. Blur, wow, a criminally underrated band by most people. Capable of amazing songwriting, hooks, melody, make you cry, make you dance, basically the Kinks in the 90s. The Universal is one of my favourite songs and lyrics ever, which I must stress the point that Oasis for all my love for them write shit meaningless lyrics, but Blur have good lyrics on the whole. Song 2 is a play on meaningless lyrics so it doesn't count.

Secondly, both are enjoyable, but Oasis had a better sound, and Gorillaz were Damon's best work. You all really need to relax with the whole "Noel can't write songs for shit" thing. He's a great songwriter. Damon likes to be experimental, Noel likes to keep things simpler. Simple isn't bad. I think he writes some beautiful songs and takes himself a bit more seriously, and I think Damon likes to have fun and mess around more. They both make their thing work. They're vastly different styles that I really don't think you can compare. Lastly, the whole debate is meaningless, overplayed, outdated, and you all need to calm down.
