I was fortunate enough to be 10 in 1990 - a teenager through all the incredible music that came out in. that decade. Hearing Oasis when was 13 changed my life and made me pick up a. guitar - and that is right and proper - there thing was an inclusive gang thing - I liked Blur - but it took my longer to appreciate their art. - very different, much more varied (from studies of character and culture to very personal songs and a wider sound)..... But. what I appreciate more than anything is Mr Coxon. Its a cliche but I think he is an INCREDIBLY underrated musician

@@KodakKid nah he wasent on e around then it was heroin he maybe had been clean by time this came out as I'm sure when he was writing 13 he writing about his use of brown , I mean he had dabbled first in late 96 so he was in and for around "4 years , he neaver ended up with a the cliche rock n roll decent into needles and spoons he dabbled then in 97/1999 he went a bit mad but still he done something and before I say wat it was, I'm speaking as an ex user so I don't get how he managed to do 5 days on 2days off by doin so early on and stickin to it u wont get super hooked but I've neaver met anyone who could keep that up but maybe Damon managed it , he's one of very few who have come out of a period of time on brown and have nothing bad to say exsept the obvious problems it creates in the world and the body but to him personally he found it made him more aware and creative and free , ridiculous lol , Damon got into a heroin induced groove that actually sounded cool and sexy 13 is a great album fuck sake it's only 1999 they only realeased great escape in 96 all about not being scared of change, thanks to heroin , Damon Is a very very lucky exseption so if you hear his story please always know heroin use pretty much ends your life , stay well away. Be safe if you do ✌️👊⏳

Melvins werent experimental as blur. Are you kidding? Both different bands... Blur is a pop band who went from "madchester/shoegasze" to "britpop" to "grunge" to"indie" to "electronic/alterntive" "reggae" "jazz" "blues" folk". it's all there. not saying it all sounded great but they are definitely one of the most exprimental bands... atleast in the mainstream Melvins weren't that expiremental in a different sense in just the fact they experimented with different grooves and riffs but it all was in their terriroty. they never stepped outside of their confort zone like blur did. . I love Melvins but geezeeeeeee you chose the worst band to compare with Blur

and that explains the hostility? Why not simply say "I like this band/music A better than band/music B" and being mutually inclusive. But it seems that the appreciation of A implies the intense hostility of B. In this case... I do believe that Blur are the more innovative musicians but Oasis wrote too many songs that I enjoyed, that it would be ungrateful to diss them.

I mean as a serious question, not a rhetorical one... why is it that fans of one particular group have this quasi-religous allegiance to one band that disallows appreciation of a "rival" band. btw the beatles and the stones created a similiar divide, so it has to be something innate to the experience of music itself
