That's not Graham. It's Simon Tong, who has previously played with The Verve, and also played with Damon in The Good The Bad & The Queen. Graham left the band during the recording of the "Think Tank" album, he only played on one song. Simon is playing a Fender Mustang here.

It's like hearing David Bowie performing an unknown John Lennon song. It's almost how good that would have been. Almost. Close enough.

I read somewhere that this was Bowie's favorite Blur song

Think Gorillaz; then Think "Blur" in the way they sounded prior to him "Leaving". Damon and him had a big battle about the artistic direciton; and Damon as much as I love him is an egotistical jerk; thus Damon makes millions and millions with Gorrillaz and Graham is remembered as the lead guitarist that made the songs shine and jangle and the amazing lead riffs and hooks via guitar.

Its like The Beatles without George Harrison. Try to even fathom it (wrote basically every major guitar part and "riff" for songs) from simplistic 4 note riffs on top of Pauls chords written for the AMAZING song "And I Love Her" (Do Do Do Doooo) catchiest little riff around; to the opening guitar lick (and out lick) in Octopuses Garden; to Something. Some Lead Guitarists are forgettable; some are absolutely irreplaceable.

I can hear David Bowie in this

@PantheonLincoln Don't forget that Damon also recruited Simon Tong to play guitar in all three Gorillaz albums. Damon has also handpicked him to be the rhythm guitar player in the upcoming Gorillaz tour.

joke. it's Simon Tong Ex-Verve. i joked that 'looked' like Dave Grohl drumming for Nirvana (which he is of course) and people thought i was actually serious! anyway, apparently Blur fans are a bit smarter :)

Nope, it wasn't. It's a good song, but I think it would have been better with a nice Graham Coxon-riff.

"Gorillaz" Damon makes far more money with this crap project (Okay; I think its crap after the last record; but the debut is an A+ debut; and the second album Demon Days is AAA Quality album through-out; perfection) but I slam him for going that route; Tension had been high with Damon and Graham, I believe artistic direction made the departure actually happen as in many articles suggest; Remember when Blur was in the media as "The New Beatles?" Oasis got some of that media but faded *thank god*
