They filmed this at North Greenwich in front the dock workers cottages attached to the Pilot Pub. The wasteland in front of the pub became the Millennium Dome. For a long time PARK LIFE was left written on a side road. Legend is the Band drank at the pub and catered for Alex's love of cheese, so much so for 2 decades the pub had a Glass Cheese counter at the end of the bar. Of course Youngs Brewery ripped it out in a gastly gastro refit... They don't know the significance of a melodic bassline when collided with the nose notes of a well potted fromage .

Love the 90s. Music took risks. Different approaches to what a song could be. Which helped produce classics like Blur. Less commercial formula. More creativity
@de1329 ай бұрын
The difference between today's music and the 1990s is that maybe a record label decides to give you this opportunity if you get lucky then they stifle you until you want to die. Today it doesn't matter if you are taking risks or not, if the algorithm isn't feeling it, you die. And the algorithm is nebulous and intangible unlike some AOR guy who might like your sound. It's why songs from 20-30 years ago become prominent again, the algorithm cares only about retention. Everyone is niche with no leverage except artists and bands who were popular pre-2015 or so

I've recently invested in life insurance, which has made me reflect on death and the irony of life. I was thinking, if there was one track I'd like to be played at my funeral, I think it would be this. It would definitely cheer everyone up while I was taken to my final resting place. God I love this song. It's things like this that makes it feel good to be alive.

I grew up in the 90s and this video still brings a tear to my eye with how authentic it is to what Britain was like. Every class you went to the teacher would be like, "Parklife" and look like Damon Albarn. Then after school you'd dance in the street, chase the ice cream van and fuck up Phil Daniel's car. Well mint memories.
@moretoknowshow18872 жыл бұрын
Always said this song was a zeitgeist of the impeding Cool Britannia era in the mid 90s. It captured a fun energy that was sorely needed after grunge wore out its welcome with music fans.

Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as (Parklife) And morning soup can be avoided if you take a route straight through what is known as (Parklife) John's got brewer's droop he gets intimidated by the dirty pigeons, they love a bit of him (Parklife) Who's that gut lord marching, you should cut down on your porklife mate, get some exercise All the people So many people And hey all go hand-in-hand Hand-in-hand through their parklife Know what I mean? "A three-word slogan, drawled lugubriously by Geoffrey Palmer in a series of Audi ads, changed all that. "Vorsprung durch Technik" became a motto for a nation that was putting the past behind it and restyling itself as a byword for quality, efficiency, progress and technology." - The Guardian
