I think it's really down to preference & purpose. In your more recent video about this, you mentioned that you like to do things with your dolls - I am the opposite, mine are purely for decoration. So for me, the fragility doesn't make any difference. I prefer Pullips personally. I think they have a prettier face, they have more versatility and variation in their facial features AND their clothing. their clothing seems quite a bit more intricate & also more.. intense, if that makes sense lol. They also seem to have some more edgy and daring styles. But, I do love Blythe dolls too!
@TammyPowley5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Before Blythes, I actually just had collectible dolls that I looked at and occasionally rearranged, which I still like those kinds of dolls, but the Blythes won me over since I do like do stuff with them and not having to be so careful. I will say, though, that my Romantic Alice Pullip actually came, NIB, with a broken arm. I was able to get a replacement arm and fix her. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Before I started collecting these two types of dolls, I didn't really like the look of Blythe and thought I would never own one! Now I've got 13! Lol I personally love the customizing aspects of the Blythes. I know you can customize Pullips too, but they're more "cartoony" looking to me than some of the custom Blythes. I love my sailor moon serenity Pullip doll - she is beautiful and really all Pullips are gorgeous! But I find her body more "fiddley" and I have trouble with her eye mechanism (re-opening the eyes!) her stand doesn't keep her up and her stock shoes are way too big! Haha but both types of dolls are so much fun!

At first I didn’t like Blythe dolls, but then I saw some very lovely customized Blythe “factory dolls,” and I finally figured out what my problem was. It turns out that I really do love Blythe dolls as long as they have eyebrows, matte faces, bigger lips, and subtle blushing. I don’t have the funds for the real Blythes anyway, so I think I’ll just get an icy/factory type blythe doll off of AliExpress and maybe try to customize her myself.

I was initially not in love with Blythes at all, but as I saw more photos of them, stock or otherwise, I grew to love them. Cutomizing is very interesting, but for me, it is taking a long time to get the basics of it down.

I came back to this. ;-) I might be thinking about a buying a Pullip. Can you tell me what shoes fit a Pullip? Do they have their own foot size? Thanks Tammy.
@TammyPowley10 ай бұрын
They have skinny feet, but a few of my Blythe shoes fit them. Usually boots and Mary Jane styles tend to work with them.

Thanks for the video! I found out about the pullips a while ago and just recently bought one. I am into collecting dolls so the info was great. I'd say I like the pullip more because of features and appearance. But the Blythes are still adorable. I'll probably have to buy both now.

i think the angel gate heads are the fake heads of pullip. First i got 2 pullips & one dal. now that i got my first ''factory'' blythe i want to buy more and more haha. now im more into the blythe dolls then i was before :D i really like the body because i dont have to be scared of that i can lose her hand or something like that
@TammyPowley8 жыл бұрын
+Mariska Panda I will have to check for the angel gate heads. So far, I've only seen one type of fake doll that had a Pullip type head but then Middie Blythe type body, sort of a hybrid between the two dolls.

@TammyPowley3 жыл бұрын
Well, you can't go wrong with one of each, honestly. That way you can see the difference for yourself. For me, the main difference is that Pullips I don't handle a lot. I set them up for display only. Blythes I take out and take photos, change their clothes regularly, etc. because they are much more sturdy and can handle all of that.
@ellen10416 жыл бұрын
For a beginner, Blythe is the better option. If you're a professional, Pullips should be good.

Thank you for your video. I accidentally purchased some beautiful boots for Blythe dolls which lead me to collecting Monster High dolls. Now when I see shoes for Blythe, I know they'll fit my MH dolls like Twyla. But tonight I found boots for Pullip so wanted to know the difference. This was helpful for me. Thank you.

Thanks for the video! Was wondering, do Blythe dolls fit Pullip doll clothes?
@TammyPowley8 жыл бұрын
For the most part, yes, but Pullips are a few inches taller, so dresses will be longer on a Blythe doll as will pants. Pullip stockings will be too long for a Blythe doll.

Thank you for the good video! My daughter has a Pullip doll and she loves it. She loves sewing clothes for it, but we really struggle with finding patterns for right sized clothes. Any tips?
@TammyPowley5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watch and commenting. Their bodies are about the same dimension as Blythe dolls but are taller, so you could use Blythe patterns(check Etsy) and make things like dresses, skirts, and pants longer for Pullips.

This video was extremely helpful! I have 4 neo blythes and one middie, and another neo on the way. I've been looking at Merl online for a few months now because I collect nautical things. I'm really thinking of buying her. Would you say her hair is better quality than Blythe? Because it looks so soft. Also, did you do anything to her hair?

Kaylee Sherrod I just now saw your comment ! I didn't do anything to her hair, but I did eventually sell the Blythe doll in this video.

Hi, thanks for the review. I've mainly pullip's dolls and only one customized blythe. I really want to get more blythe dolls because they are beautiful, but they are way too expensive considering the lack of mobility of their bodies and poor quality of their stock clothing that's what makes me think twice before buying another one. By the way, is there a blythe doll official webpage ? A friend suggested me a couple of websites but the cheaper doll's cost is $180 + shipping or is that the normal starting price. Sorry I'm a newbie lost.
@TammyPowley8 жыл бұрын
+yasmyg Yes, they are pricey, and they seem to be going up. The latest release announced for Aug. 2016 (a special anniversary release) I've seen listed at CCToys for $448.88! Crazy! I think that is one reason the fake/factory dolls are so popular. I'm not sure if I get what you mean by an official web site. There are some web sites that are official Blythe retailers and get their dolls directly from Takara, if that's what you mean, for example Junie Moon and CCToys. I know there is so much to learn about these dolls, which is one reason I started making doll videos to share info as I learn it myself. I have learned a lot from the Blythe World Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/106181589451502/ There is also a really good forum on Ravelry that I have learned a lot from: www.ravelry.com/groups/me-and-my-blythe Oh, I have seen prices pretty much all over the road, but the cheapest price for a stock Blythe I've seen around $130. My Country Summer doll was $128 (which included shipping from CCToys), but last time I saw her on there, her prices had gone up by $50. So, the prices tend to go up sometimes.

So Angelgate (or Angel gate i'm not sure) dolls are fake pullips. They look very very similiar to pullips but they are not made by groove. I am really not sure where or how to find someone who sells those dolls, but in my opinion it is only a good thing that you can't find fake pullip dolls so easily.

@@TammyPowley I think I just saw almond-shaped eyes on a Blythe doll for the first time just a few minutes ago on Etsy... but it was definitely rare, and not something I'd have an easy time finding again from another seller. I think the doll was meant to be Asian-looking. But then it probably wasn't a real Blythe, was it? I'm not really looking for authenticity as much as whatever is aesthetically-pleasing for me.
