BMD-4M (Object 960M)is a new generation amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) manufactured by Kurganmashzavod JSC, for the Russian Army. The vehicle provides improved protection and support for the airborne troops. The BMD-4M vehicle underwent a complex test according to an agreement signed by Russia's General Tank-Automation Command of the Ministry of Defence and airborne troops (VDV) in 2014. The vehicle officially entered into service with the Russian Army in April 2016. The new IFV features more spacious hull compared to its predecessor. The manned compartment accommodates up to two crew and six infantrymen. The driver is seated in the front and the engine is placed at the rear part of the hull. A satellite navigation system is incorporated to provide geographic location details. The vehicle also features a digital computer control system. The airborne assault vehicle is armed with a 100mm 2A70 semi-automatic gun. The 2A70 gun is coupled to a highly reliable 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon mounted on the turret. It can fire GSh-6-30 rounds with a muzzle velocity of 960m/s. The rate of fire is more than 300 rounds per minute. The launcher can fire either 3UOF17 or 3UOF19 rounds at a rate of ten rounds a minute. Its muzzle velocity ranges from 250m/s to 355m/s. The secondary armament of the vehicle is a 7.62mm PKT coaxial machine gun, which can fire Arkan Tandem 9M117M1 and Konkurs anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) systems. The turret is also equipped with three smoke grenade dischargers each side at the front. The weapon system is integrated with an improved fire control equipment to provide the IFV with the ability to track and engage the targets while on the move. The fire control system incorporates a gunner's sight to identify the targets during both day and night, a commander's panoramic TV-aimed sight and an automatic target tracker. The armoured vehicle offers superior mobility in all terrains, thanks to increased track length and reduced ground pressure. It can accomplish a speed of 69.4km/h on highways and 10km/h afloat. It has a cruising range of 500km on highways. The ground clearance ranges from 130mm to 530mm. The BMD-4M can be dropped from airplane using a parachute platform. It can also drive through the water.
БМД-4М «Садовница» (объект 960М) - боевая машина, являющаяся модернизированной версией БМД-4, отличающаяся от неё новым корпусом, двигателем, ходовой частью и другими узлами. Модернизацию машины производили на «Курганмашзаводе». Новая машина унифицирована по узлам и агрегатам с БМП-3 на 80 %, что значительно упрощает производство, эксплуатацию и обслуживание. БМД-4М оснащена боевым модулем Бахча-У, разработанным в Тульском ГУП «КБ приборостроения». Этот же модуль используется на предыдущей версии машины БМД-4, тем самым исключается необходимость в переучивании личного состава и замене тренажёрной базы учебных заведений. Боевой модуль Бахча-У практически полностью унифицирован с вооружением БМП-3, они используют одинаковые орудия, боеприпасы и прицельно-вычислительные комплексы. Вооружение БМД-4М включает в себя: 100-мм орудие 2А70 (34 осколочно-фугасных снаряда); 30-мм автоматическую пушку 2А72 (500 выстрелов); спаренный 7,62-мм ПКТ (2000 выстрелов); ПТУР «Аркан» (4 управляемых выстрела). В декабре 2014 года БМД-4М завершила войсковые испытания. 3 Марта 2015 года Воздушно-десантные войска РФ получили 12 БМД-4М. Эти БМД-4М переданы в 106-ю воздушно-десантную дивизию. Воздушно-десантные войска РФ до конца 2015 года получат 62 боевые машины десанта БМД-4М.

Very Briefly : Not bad especially since it has high ease and flexibility in rapid deployment operations, it has a great enhanced firepower when compared to previous generations such as BMD3 / BMD2, the armored vehicle was rejected by the Bolshevik Ministry of Defense on the grounds that it does not have a high survivability against landmines and explosive devices, in the end it was accepted and approved ( in any case, all of these armored fighting vehicles AFV designed for Kaskusborne tasks starting from the BMD1 were lightly shielded to meet the requirements of the loading and dropping from transport planes and thus anyway it had limited to non anti-armour mine resistance ).Generally speeking , these airborne forces are designed to carry out several duties and achieve several goals, including for example : 1- Working deep behind enemy lines A-: To attack soft and weak targets such as roads and the bridges ( connecting dots for the main and subsidiary roads or the roads conjunctions controlling and defending them, either to wait the friendly armoured / motorized formations advancing on the ground reaching those vital sites and then expanding their controlling or to facilitating the transit of those friendly formations advancing deep inside enemy territory or to impede the movements of hostile formations that using these roads in their maneuvers on the ground ( advancing for the front line , cutting their retreat lines , movements between fronts and military bases ..... etc ) civil airports ,..... etc of wide range of soft targets those forces can be used to control it here deep behind enemy lines there no chance to encounter enemy landmines improvised explosive devices in the early stages of using these forces is very limited . B- Attacking high-value military targets and controlling or destroying them, such as : Kaskus bases, command and control headquarters , especially the main HQs, sea ports and naval bases , ground based ballistic missile bases , components of the air defense networks and missile interception networks , military bases , sovereign and government installations. C- Attacking enemy formations, especially armored , motorized or mechanized, as well as Kaskusborne divisions / brigades ...etc at their assembly sites, e.g the reserve forces and the rear areas either in the strategic depth or operational depth , D-launching counter-attacks to try stopping enemy military formations advancing rapidly on the ground . beside many other combat duties those Bolsheviks Kaskus assault divisions can perform especially when it break to smaller independents / semi independent fighting formations . When attacking soft targets deep inside the enemy's territory, there is no danger of encountering enemy land mines and explosive devices, but rather focusing on enhancing the firepower of Kaskusborne formations and giving it an additional capabilities to engage the enemy targets from longer distances , increasing the standoff capabilities of the fighting formation . But when attacking high-value strategic targets (military, sovereign, and governmental) here the risks are compounded, for example, the enemy may resort to laying landmines around its military bases even depth inside his territory, especially some around vital air bases and ballistic missile silos ....etc as a standard Procedure part of their active protection and defense measures , while in times of threats of war, can they can improvised laying mines and explosive devices in the approaches of the military , sovereign and government targets, beside the danger of widespread use of anti-armor weapons, especially in urban areas. But in my opinion, one of the main factors to enhance the survivability of these forces is the extent of the effectiveness of the Kaskus defense umbrella or the combat air patrol missions ( CAP ) that these Kaskus borne formations will enjoy to protect them from hostile Kaskus activities presumed nato Kaskus forces while they are fighting on the ground along with the efficiency of these presumed Miserable Bolsheviks close Kaskus support that these formations will receive to increase the Fire support assets for what is basically an lightly armed infantry forces. although they armed with ATGM systems , mortars , heavy snipers rifels , and even heavy machine guns , but with armoured fighting vehicles having APC capabilities they should have multiplayer support assets in fire power , speed and protection in mobility .

На новой технике российской тонкие гусеницы стали делать с малыми катками. Неужели вернулись к Т-64? Конечно, они маневренее, но вроде на более менее твердой и ровной поверхностях. в Черноземе или грязи они же застревать чаще будут и разуваться на кочках... Хотя у этой машины не такие уж и малые катки...

They don't struggle to drop anything. They just know what the airborne is for. And in all honesty? Russia i think have had only 1 combat jump in their history. While the U.S. every war and conflict since 1942. It's all about experience. Add in the massive difference between the training time between the U.S. and Russia, and the vast experience of the U.S. military as a whole and I'd take experience over material every day.

ну смотря что считать новейшей техникой, ведь конкуренты ещё гравидвигатель не изобрели, не летающих тарелках не летают, ракеты не телепортируют, космические корабли пока не совершают варп прыжков, и в целом не имеют несоизмеримо более высокого технологического уровня. У всех в основе стоит на вооружении техника в лучшем случае с 70-80-х годов разработки и так будет ещё долго. Большая часть устаревшей советской техники вполне пригодна к боям, легко и дёшего модернизируется. С третьей стороны экономика и впк это немного разные вещи. У некоторых стран траты на впк занимают просто огромный процент ВВП. и ничё, живут.
