Baltimore was playing house music and what became Baltimore Club music started from Hip House and the Uk House sound. "When house and hip-hop had a brief love affair around 1990 and spawned the short-lived hip-house genre, Baltimore swallowed the sound hard. The style of Rob Base and DJ EZ-Rock’s “It Takes Two” - with a foot in both rap and dance culture - took on a life of its own in Baltimore as local producers accentuated the basic rhythms that crowds responded to the most on the dance floor at Odell’s, with a kitchen sink of samples. An intensely competitive scene formed as a result with Paradox’s Friday “college” nights serving as a crucial incubator during the ‘90s before Bmore Club’s brush with the mainstream in the 2000s. Unruly Records threw its final party at Paradox on a Sunday in April. Karizma In the beginning, the club music stuff was very much a part of the sound that was happening at Fantasy and Paradox. All we did was make it our own. As it started to get a little bit more urban, I started to push the house thing to the side. Whatever hip hop song or whatever R&B song that was hot, nine times out of ten we was going to try and make a mash out of it."

Yeah I don't where Jersey and Philly shit came from. Hey New School Old School era just like before my generation hehehe.Born in Va and growing up in NY and NJ listening to all genre of music. Most definitely nobody was up on to this at all..... not even go-go music other what was on MTV. You had to have "cassette tapes" made or bought because only thing most jokers knew about outta town down there other than Dc,Va was school or and to get money. My cousin left NY in the early 80s then he got my brother and moms a place in Baltimore County-Randallstown in 87. I remember my brother taking me to the Paradox and some other joints on Reigerstertown Rd and in "Baltamore City". He would mentioned Dj Frankski@92Q now in Atlanta@V103 and that guy RIP Ms Tony Lol. Years later up and down the highway chasin skirts and hitting Foxxes Den,Choices and what ever else was poppin. Some good times.

no way. Baltimore is the genesis. That's why Baltimore DJ's and the sound from there is so much better than Jersey and Philly which latched on our sound 20 years later. they had House and Hip House. I used to kill the Jersey crews with my club music back in the day.
