Awesome retrospective of my favorite band of all time :) Thank you so much for this. I actually really, really love Third Stage. I think the concept of the album works so well and Scholz does such an amazing job of weaving the theme through all the songs. One song you didn't spotlight here--"Cantcha Say (You Believe In Me)"--is the highlight of the album to me.

Wish we had more BOSTON. Love all their stuff. I've seen them 6 times since 87 and the last one in 2017 was amazing. Of course we can't have Brad anymore but Tommy is pretty good. Thanks to Talia DeCarlo and MM who got the MySpace recording to Kim Scholz. BOSTON lives on.

I worked for Boston back in 1977-78, when they practiced at the Music Complex Studio in Cambridge, Ma. I knew Brad and Tommy well. The way you talked about Brad's voice "not being the greatest voice in rock" sounded a bit sarcastic to me. You've got a right to your opinion, but you obviously don't know a great singer when you hear one. Brad Delp was one of the greatest vocalists in the history of rock & roll! Lou Gramm of Foreigner told me personally that he wished he could sing like Brad. And to me, Lou is the best ever! I don't know what you look for in a rock vocalist if you don't think Brad Delp is that good my friend. (RIP Brad, we all still love you❤)

Wow, I thought precisely the same thing per the comment of Brad's vocals in the video. Brad was definitely one of the most amazing male vocalists in rock history! Period. If Brads vocals were average or subpar to the author of this video, then I too would beg to understand who he thinks is phenomenal. I do hope it was intended as sarcasm. Very cool you worked with the band back in the day. That's an epic experience to have under your belt, my friend. I have had my own round of very close encounters with the band over the years. Great people and highly inspirational. RIP Brad.

Really enjoying all these reviews, Joe, and have agreed 100% with every one I've seen so far. "Cool The Engines" is also my favorite Boston song. Until now, I thought I was the only Boston fan who could say that.

I have a very strange soft spot for Amanda. Honestly love this song, but it was because I had a mad crush on a girl named Amanda at the time I first heard it on the SiriusXM 80s station, so I totally just glommed onto that one and just love that song. Other than More Than A Feeling (because why would anyone ever hate that song, it’s just that awesome) it’s my favorite Boston song by a mile.

Great video...loved it. One thing though...how can a band or an individual be accused of being "corporate rock" when the war against the corporate label (Epic/Sony) was so bad that it had a lot more in common with the punk bands that railed against the establishment. Tom Scholz railed against the corporations, he wasn't one of them! So what if Amanda was a big hit. Look at the first two albums and some of the material in the later stuff and you'll see that deep down, Scholz has a lot more in common with Rage Against the Machine than actually being one of its cogs. The corporations destroyed what Boston could have and should have been.

Walk-on was a great album. It just came out when grunge was the rage - so there wasn't the interest. Fran was a great singer on that album too.
