Just for clarity, the 178.2 degree shutter in EU/AU and other 50Hz areas is applicable only if you're shooting at 24/48fps. If you're shooting at 25/50/100fps, then 180 degrees is the still the correct shutter speed.

Really great! We have a pretty similar setup for our BMMCC…one thing I would recommend though is getting the newly released meike 10mm mft instead of the 8 and 12. Obviously splits the difference in terms of focal lengths, but also the 10 is the same speed and 77mm filter thread as the 16, 25, and 35!

I've just started shooting my first short film with the OG Bmpcc, and even though I'm an incompetent noob using the camera for the first time, the image quality is great. I'm trying to shoot at dawn and dusk to get good lighting for free, or in forests to break up midday light, and feeling confident so far. The camera, a quality Gimbal and a cine prime lens all in all cost £900! I was keen to upgrade to the 4K before I even began shooting, but now I see the image the OG gets, I'll probably stick with it for several narrative shorts! Maybe the 6K pro is worth the investment one day..?
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great setup! Glad you are making good use! I think from an image and ergonomic standpoint the 6k pro is probably the best if you want to use it for professional work--however I think the Pocket 4K allows for better lens options at a lower pricepoint. High end EF glass can definitely run up the bill and like I said--better glass can trump higher resolution. But the 6K Pro is for sure a powerhouse.

My complements once again! You have shared -- in real world detail -- what the capabilities are of this camera! When you pointed out that cinema film usually max's out at 500 ISO, I thought how true that is! Hollywood lights up their sets to very intense levels to allow for the limitation of film. Although my RED camera is pretty good at low light; I never plan for it to reach its' limits when I light a scene. The same with my BMPCC-OG. It is a cinema camera and you should light the scene to match the 400-800 ISO. If I really need a super low light shot... Ok I'll put my Sony A7 on the job. But it's not going to match the "look" of the BM-OG without some work in post. So I say pick one up on eBay or where ever and punch it in to your next job! Even if you have a high speed new era camera, you still have to do some work in post to match the unique color science available from this camera... just saying.... :)

Mammoth video! I never plan to shoot a feature but I learned a lot about how to rig the camera from this video, thanks. I've been struggling with noise that is colored (i.e. red green and blue noisy dots visible in Resolve instead of the achromatic noise I see in other people's videos). I'm using a Metabones adapter and Canon 17-55, and stopping down and zooming in a bit to try to reduce artefacts from being wide open or at the widest angle. Shooting 23.97FPS and 400 ISO in RAW. I'm able to expose to the right with my light, so I don't think it's an issue of light. Wondering if my sensor is bad or if changing glass would help, or if I'm doing something else wrong.
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Hmmm... I'm not sure what your issue might be without seeing a sample of it.
@sandeepgillco Жыл бұрын
@@WillvonTagen I used to think my sensor was bad with coloured noise in the shadows. Maybe it is but Resolve is your best friend. You can desaturate any noise present in the shadows to give you that achromatic-ness (is that a word?) plus noise reduction will take a lot of that out too. I shot this short with the OG which has a couple of low-light sequences and I'm happy with how the shadows look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXPam5hueqmfbpY (5:08 onwards for low-light)

8:17 another example why nobody should care about whats the max ISO of a camera. because ISO is a bullshit standard and camera makers like Sony and canon make use of that bs to trick people into thinking they are getting some super sensitive sensor. For an example, GH5 will give you brighter image at 6400 ISO than Sony A7SII at 24600 and noise on both will be pretty much same. Sony can go up to even 100 thousand but after 12800 its just increasing ISO number and no gain in brightness at all. just increases noise. Almost like they faked ISO values to make people feel they are getting like 10 times better sensitivity. So comparing ISO of two different cameras is like comparing max RPM of two cars.
