We are almost similar age Basant Sir and i could relate to almost everything that you said.. I remember the series after 83 world cup and ducks that Gavaskar made in that series. While Marshal was amazing, i heard that Gavaskar was getting out because Kapil was made captain instead of him.. Initially, we did win matches against pak, but after the match in which Miadad hit the sixer of the last ball to Chetan sharma, we took a long to recover and beat pak again..ofcourse akram was the best bowler and indians could not play against fast bowlers and when sachin hit the sixer off akram, it was a sweet revenge..so many memories came back.. thank you..

Just started reading your book and I loved this line, completely changed my perspective. *Now technology has evolved so much that they can show slow motion 1000 times better than say Gavaskar era... But what use... In 20-20 they would rather show you 2 more advertisements than show ball tracking or focus on public reaction* ... No much analysis ... Rank amateurs as expert commentators between games... I don't think Harbhajan, Shreesanth or Irfan Pathan & many other foreign players had the expertise to speak in a World Cup. There was COMPLETE LACK OF TITLING... whenever a person is being interviewed or even speaking THEY NEED to type out his name so that audience can recognise & know him. Then there was complete DISCONNECT between the commentators & TV and Editing crew... any random shots are shown after a batsmen play a shot ... there is no explanation as to why it is shown... and before the commentators explain it the scene is cut to live feed. Watching matches 10 to 20yrs ago was much more informative. As the commentators used to tell the editor to pull up a bowler's bowling action or compare certain shots etc. Nowadays also they show but randomly without being asked and before the commentator has finished explaining the Scene is cut to live feed... maybe the editor wants to show who the boss is. 😂 The ads have become such a pain that *I prefer to watch cricket nowadays in mute mode.* ... much better that way...
