BMW 3-Series E46 320Ci Eisenmann Race Exhaust Sound (HQ Audio)

I put this together partly to try out a suction mount for the GoPro but also as an audio yardstick for when I do the M54B30 (330Ci) engine swap, possibly thereafter an ESS TS2 supercharger install also.
GoPro Details: Hero 8 Black recording in 1080p60 SuperView with windjammers attached, mounted on a Delkin FatGecko mount.
Car details: 320Ci (M54B22 - 2.2L inline six) with Eisenmann Race Exhaust, OEM headers, K&N air filter and ECU remap. I reckon the 265 section Goodyear Eagle F1 rears helped with shaving that second off the stock 0-60. The stock tyres would just light up with the clutch dumped like that!

Can you hear a notable difference from inside the car with just the new muffler & oem headers?

It has been over a decade since I heard it with a stock exhaust but yes, I do believe it was a significant change (that said, it is very insulated in the cabin so the noise is not problematic on long journeys etc)

@@GRBiker Yeah, I agree about the insulation, it pretty damn good, maybe even too good. I open the rear windows to actually be able to hear the stock muffler lol. This is with a 330ci with the flap in the muffler fully open btw. Thanks for replying!

I’m not sure what ESD and MSD means here but to answer the question this system left the factory catalysers - I am from the UK

This has had a remap, K&N induction kit & Eisenmann exhaust, plus some grippy 19R 265/30 rear tyres

@@lucsecher2076 yes I was thinking about the cat for performance reasons after I swapped to the M54B30 engine but then discovered the gains are minimal as it already has high flow cats by default - you may find you have the same 🙌

Yes, the sound level is not at the point where it would be considered an issue by police/MOT testers.. if I were to also remove the catalysers then it might be an issues (both on emissions testing and noise)

Thank you - it’s probably only like 5 hp more than stock but the extra grip helps lay it down hence the better 0-60, yeh nothing done to the arches, they just fit inside!

what kind of ecu remap have you done? And have you done some weight reduction?

Well, it’s an SE spec so lighter than the clubsports and M3 etc (no electric seats and so on) but no have not stripped the interior etc. remap was a standard plus 10hp, smoothed fuel curve sort of thing. I’ve just completed an M54B30 swap (330Ci spec) so should be a fair bit quicker now ☺️

@@riccardocervetti3203 probably depends on where you’re sourcing your parts, I also opted for the 6 speed gearbox which increased the cost a bit. Bear in mind as soon as you change the gearbox that means new prop shaft, which means doing the diff, drive shafts and trailing arms/hubs (all slightly different from 328 and below, but not M3 spec either.. it’s odd). But all in all, I spent about £6k

This body type is pre-facelift, 2002 production year.

@@louisb2574 yes it is a coupe, in BMW naming (during the E46 era at least) all “Ci” are coupe petrol, “i” is saloon petrol, “d” is used for diesels so “Cd” is coupe diesel. “xi” would be one of the 4WD petrol saloon models.
