Perfect, this is exactly how I replaced both sides and it took like 5 min max. Cost savings not going to BMW... priceless... Thank you for posting this I kept trying to feel for the release pin since they changed this from the previous models using the retaining spring system this was MUCH easier to do. If your old bulb is stuck, you WILL have to remove the wheel. This is essentially done "blind" , by feel, if you don't remove the wheel. Unless your hands are tiny, good luck with that.

This does not work for LCI 2016+ halogen bulbs, totally different connector for both bulb and housing.
