Very good test. The only thing we can't be sure about is the accuracy of the on board computer fuel consumption readings. You would have to fuel the car till the first click, then drive until the reserve comes on, fuel till the first click again, calculate the real consumption and compare it with computer's reading. Based on this, you can adjust the reading, so that you will get the exact number. Still, when driving on the secondary roads / motorways, the errors are slim and usually never bigger than 0.2 L/100 km.

Its stupidly good... I have a 330e with the exact same gas engine as the 320i and the fuel economy for when the engine has been on is 4.9L per 100km. It being a 330e i mostly use the electric motor only, but its good to know how efficient the gas engine truly is. Even the 2011 Prius i had before it uses more gas at 5.5L per 100km. This is obviously only in my scenario tho, your fuel economy will vary on how far your commute is ETC.

I have it, very similar figures to B48, I'd say 4.7-4.8l/100km at 100km/h, roughly 5,5-5,7l/100km at 120km/h. Combined I get around 7l/100km in summer.

Bigger wheels, different tyres, different road surface, different climate, different wind conditions? There can be many factors that influence your personal consumption, this video should only provide an indication of what to expect.

When you see the fuel consumption you immediately can guess that it's a german car. Let's make it fuel efficient at high speed,who cares everywhere else?! And this is why they built only phev's right now.
