Couldn't agree with you more, getting a new one is far more smarter idea in 100 various ways. Worth keeping in mind is that you only need to replace the part which snapped for him

It's doable, pretty much as this video shows. It took me maybe 4 hours, good as new, and, saving the money, I feel better for my carelessness that put me here! I ended up watching the video a 2x speed, jumping around a little bit, but all very helpful.

Hey Rey this video will sure help me , i have the same car as you except mine is red , it’s currently at the shop getting a door fix and the mirror is broken same part as yours and even on the left driver side thanks for all the steps I sure will save me about 2-3 hundred dollars 👍🏾

I don't know for sure but I believe it is pot metal and I don't think soldering would work. By the way these mirrors don't fold to save themselves from injury, they just snap off. One crap design considering it's a BMW

+dylan conklin This fix is not foldable. That is the problem with the factory mirror. It is designed to fold but is too tight to fold when it hits an object. It just breaks off. Very poor design from BMW sorry but you get a great big fail! Just research on line and you will see a plethora of broken mirrors.

If that gets hit again... it's not just new mirror time... it new mirror AND new door time. But hey in the meantime you got yourself a nifty pedestrian decapitator to play with. People, there's a reason most modern car mirrors fold and/or break easily at that point. They can prevent massive damage to your car, prevent massive damage to pedestrians or motorcyclist, and you can fold them up when parked on a narrow street or parking spot. Do yourself a favor and run to the nearest salvage (auto wrecking) yard that has a similar car to yours to take the mirror from. It shouldn't take long and if you go there first you'll get some practice taking the mirror off. A motorized one such as this bmw one are usually around $30 or so. If you happen to have a Titanium Silver BMW like the one in the video, you might get lucky and find the same color. Otherwise, you can switch covers with little hassle if you don't find a matching one.

Hi! I've got a 330 ci clubsport and just snapped one of my side-view mirrors off. The problem that I have found (living in sweden) is that it's really hard to get a hold of a part that matches the one I have. I have the same mirror as that in the video with the little bumps on top. You mention that it would be easy to switch covers if you wouldn't be able to find one with matching colour. I haven't been able to find any info on how to switch the covers, could you help me out? like you do have any links to forum posts or videos about this? Would be really thankful for a reply, Kind Regards!

The mirrors twist upwards, do not fold directly inwards or they break. Twist up.

What good is that? So I can save my mirror if.... 1. The car falls into a sink hole. 2. If i go through the ice when ice racing. 3. I catch the mirror while dropping the car from a C5 transport plane. LOL... what was BMW thinking with this useless engineering? I was driving home the other day and sure enough a BMW in the slow lane pulled alongside me and THAR SHE BE, a driver side mirror rocking and banging on the drivers door hanging from the electrical wires. ????????????

Beg to differ Joe, it's been 3 years since my fix and the mirror is doing what it's supposed to do. I have lost the auto adjustment function but I set it by hand and haven't touched it since the repair. One day I will buy a new unit when I have the funds and replace the repair.
