What do people do to the n54 when they want to build it? Stock rods + pistons? or an entire piston/rod combo...?

N54 stock are good for 700hp min unopened, but it's very restricted by the head. It's normally heads first then people normally do a close deck along with rod and pistons at the same time. If you're building the engine.

I only did bearings and plugged the head ports. I would consider all that a refresh build good up to 700whp

@@ColoradoN5X Yeah..I know what you did for your current setup...I'm more asking what do people do to actually build the N54, specifically the shortblock. For example...I use billet mains, aluminum rods, and CP pistons on my 2J with L19 head studs/rod bolts..etc etc. Thanks.

@@DrewJZ 700-800whp builds are usually rods, pistons, and bearings at the least. 800+whp the block should be closed along with some head work.

My car make a little over 500whp on stage 1 turbos and it’s a blast to drive. I can’t tell you how much shit I have already replaced on this car . Maintenance is a monster on bmw so be prepared to pay if you wanna play.

@@thinkingagain5966 Injectors, Plugs, Coils, Oil filter housing gasket, Valve cover gasket, Oil pan gasket, Water Pump, Thermostat. If your unlucky Turbos. Ive done all of these on my car but i also got it for 4 grand lol not expensive if you are mechanically inclined
