Great vid and informative as usual.. camera work and lighting improving. Judging by the oil in the pipes I would probably have degreaced them thoroughly and run some brake cleaner or equivalent through the intercooler. Surprising how much oil clags the internal airways up..

Great ! Remove the dirt from the cooling fins, then bend the fins with a stiff scrub brush to prevent good airflow. Brilliant.

Hi, great video ! I have a question, have you tried Liqui Moly Diesel Purge ? It's a diesel injector cleaner, I presume you already know this 😂. If you want to make a video please don't pour the cleaner inside your diesel tank, maybe you can make it like a closed loop. Thank you and see you next video. Cheers.

Nice job. Where exactly do you position the axle stands? I removed the front two alloys to detail but because I had to jack up the car using the sill points I couldn't use them for the axle stands. I just put them either side of the central jacking point as I couldn't see anywhere else that was suitable without removing the under tray.

@EvanHaworthStaines4 жыл бұрын
Piovo it depends.. as long as thé car has been looked after properly and serviced regularly and is in good shape . Looking for a diesel, automatic anything that doesn’t drink like an alcoholic
@piovo52224 жыл бұрын
Evan London 5.5 to 6.5k for a 520d which has been looked after, not the highest mileage also.
@TheSonyjoseph4 жыл бұрын
You can, but better stay away from 2. 0 ltr engine.go for 525, 530 or 535 d

you should clean it inside aswell...,i do mine every year with degreaser
@Nut_Job.4 жыл бұрын
Quite a lot of that degreaser wash actually went through the inlet/outlet while cleaning it too 👍

What do you think of BMW ownership so far?
@calm44774 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you clean the inside of the intercooler? The oily vapours inside can reduce efficiency just as much as the road debris built up on the outside of the intercooler. A litre of petrol and cover both ends and shake for a minute, you'll be surprised what comes out of it and you will see an improvement in both response and mpg.
@Nut_Job.4 жыл бұрын
I actually did clean the inside too, just not on camera. Although I just used strong degreaser & washed out afterwards.
@calm44774 жыл бұрын
Nut Job good man, did you notice a difference?
@Nut_Job.4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t really driven it since... lockdown. Really, I just wanted to get it out & check it over - I only cleaned it because I had it off the car & usually I take the opportunity to clean things I take off 👍
@calm44774 жыл бұрын
Nut Job I have to do mine but it requires the bumper off as it has dual side mount inter coolers, I’ll get round to it at some point 😉
@stunicholson39214 жыл бұрын
If you have a twin turbo, do they go through the same intercooler?
@Nut_Job.4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they’re set up as sequential turbos on one manifold. The intercooler may be a little larger on the 535d etc. but I’m not sure. You can check out the part on www.realoem.com
@Re_Kitty4 жыл бұрын
Ive got an e46 and one of my turbo hoses is really soft, softer than usual. Still holds pressure though, you think its worth changing?
@Nut_Job.4 жыл бұрын
In my experience they usually go the other way and become stiff/brittle and begin to crack. Only replace if there’s signs of damage or cracks in it 👍
