I've been restoring one of these for the last 7 years. Sorry, but all those "little bits" of rust are the tip of the iceberg I'm afraid. Pull the sill covers off and there will be a nightmare of rot behind. If that car was taken to a good restoration shop to be sorted out, it is probably £10K off being right. For instance, the rear screen is delaminating, which will mean most of the heating elements won't work and there will be serious rust underneath it. A new screen complete with the rubber trim is just short of £1200 now from BMW Germany.

This must be South Africa. E31 production in Europe and the US ended with the 1997 model year.
