BMW Active Steering HSR Actuator Repair

In this video I am going to show and explain how yo repair the BMW HSR Actuator.
When the actuator goes bad, might give you some errors like :
480100: HSR slow steering angle synchronization
480138: HSR in pause mode and vehicle rolls
4803A2: Overload protection
I am doing this repair with a self made "repair kit" that I am planing to produce more of and sell to the people that want to do this by themselves.

before disassembly HSR actuator make some locking tool for ends holders ,and then the end holders will stay locked on the tool like welded on large piece metal .after repair of HSR ,tight again screws of ends holders

Hello from finland. I have little annoying problem with hsr. Changed magnet holder already but didnt solve issue. Pretty sure that needs cleaning and lubening. If you would have spare bushings for sale, I would be so greatfull.

I cannot unscrew the 2 nuts from the top on the BMW F07. There are no places for 21mm wrench. How did you unscrew the HSR ACTUATOR from the car ?

Question: If you buy a used unit that comes without the support frame can you just swap it with your own one that is in the car? By just undoing the 3 top bolts and one bottom saves you 6-7 hours and not have to drop the rear diff

As far as I remember I did not drop the rear diff. Took me 1-2h to take it down and 1h to put it back up. If you buy an used unit it should be just plug and play... think I still have an almost new unit laying around :)

Hi there hope you are well and thank you for your informative video I am having an issue with my HSR, there is play on one side of the HSR when i move the rear wheel side to side? HSR has no errors and still works, have you seen this before? Its causing alot of play like if a balljoint was gone Thanks

Might actually be a ball joint on the rear arms or a bushing on them. By the way the HSR is made it's kinda impossible to have a play unless your plastic bushings are totally broken inside the HSR.

Really interesting design ruined by those cheap bushings. Shouldn't the rubber caps have protected from water ingress?You really surprised me with those 3D Printed ones you made. You could make a chassis or some measurements before dissassembling one so you can check that both arms are perfectly aligned and also all the holes are parallel. Great work, probably you will have lots of requests for the parts!!!

I think water came in from the rubber caps but ALSO from the place where the "body" is screwed together ... there were signs of water ingress also by the rubber seal / o-ring. Thanks for watching.

I think that traction control is off when you put snow chains ... so might have something to do with that.

Jo det funka, minns inte vad jag betala. Mesta jobbet är o få bort enheten från bilen. Enkelt o byta bussningarna när man väl har den på bänken. Sen behöver man koppla upp bilen till datorn o göra en initiering av bakaxelstyrningen. Räkna med en hel helg om allt flyter på bra, jag höll på längre
