The OBD 2 scan tool was able to diagnose the issue down to the seat belt pre tensioner, which is part of the SRS safety restraint system.
A seat belt pre tensioner is a device that is used to hold a passenger firmly in their seat just before and at the start of a collision (especially in a front or head on collision) and then allow that passenger to come into contact with the inflated airbag in a controlled way.
The video shows step by step, removal of the seat, unplugging SRS wiring harness and removal of faulty seat belt buckle (female)(right) passenger side. Then installation of new buckle then plugging SRS wiring harness back together and eventually bolting back the seats. In conclusion, showing a final Diag and clearing up the airbag warning fault using the OBD scan tool.

I just searched ebay..but I would make sure of the part number first before buying and the scan tool needs to be more advanced to clear code ...if you dont have an advanced tool like bavarian technic...an independent shop maybe able to clear it out the system

I had the same problem and applied the same steps. As I erased the code, with the same code reader, the sensors for the passenger seatbelt and airbag came back on as I drove for less than a min...

Bimma Joc it was the airbag module!! The cost for that part was about $700 and labor another $300!!!! Nope, so Long story short I had to junk it because no one would of bought it..

So what was the final verdict? You replaced the parts, your coding did not work as a long term solution. Did you ever get it fixed before you got rid of it??

Nope ...I realized it was the air bag module that needed to be replaced and also programmed at BMW...there were more things that needed to get done on that car... and so i traded the car in for what i have now 335xdrive msprt pkg N55 ...this was a great decision

Kg Kazmi you can get that for 50 bucks on ebay just keep in mind it has limited use...but it will show you a problem

Meaning it will not really clear codes...it will only show you issues....only an official bmw scan tool or equivalent that cost big bucks can diag and clear codes....the 50 dollar scan tool is only a guide. Bavarian technic has a better option with a price tag

Hi @Bimma Joc, I have the same problem with the air bag light, I used INPA to scan my car and the code indicate that is the passenger restraint ( 93c3 oc3 error). I am considering change the restraint or install the emulator. My question is, In your case does the light came back at some point after the replacement? Thank you in advance for your time,

Gabriel Martinez yes it did come back ...but after that i traded the car anyway and got the E92 i have now...the only reason why it came bCk on is because of the scan tool i used...its not as advanced as INPA

Well ....we cant ...must go to dealer because it has to do with airbag ....even everything i did on this video realized that bmw scan tool needed to reprogram airbag module

I am sorry there is no such thing as a quick fix. Once the light comes on, your horn or any control on the steering wheel stops working. It happened on my GTO. First, the steering wheel needs to be removed, the fault lies in the part where the turn signal and windshield wiper and that one needs to be replaced. Please take it only to a BMW dealer, or someone is a certified BMW mechanic. The repair costs US$ 1,350.00.

Only a BMW certified tool can only reprogram it....Also the FAULT Most likely to replace airbag module... but even if i did that i would still have to go to the dealer to program it. Any way.....ive not had that car for 3 years now ....that was N52 ....We have N55 now ....its on most of the Channel diys and maintenance
